Hey all, similar to sw0rdfish I\'m a bit new to cars but quickly learning now that I\'m so into getting a Mazda 3... hey at least I know what a CAI and JDM stand for! :D

Anyways... my dealership (Markham Mazda) is \"requiring\" (per the quote form) $45 for \"Wheel Locks Installed.\" Asking my sales, jasonC what that is, he says they are special locks to keep the rim on the car, locked with a key.

I\'m thinking... isn\'t that just a special set of lugs? Or use the factory lugs and buy a second set or even third set if you love the stock rims so much... :)

They\'re essentially a special lug-nut that requires a special key to get it off the tire... Erin Millz Mazda throws them in for free for me... gripe and I\'m sure they\'ll throw them in.

Exactly. Just haggle a bit and you\'ll get these thrown in for free.

If anything, the Mazda ones are $31. Wheel locks are really unnecessary if you still have the stock wheels. I mean if you have a set of 24k Dayton rims, by all means get wheel locks. How many times have you heard of someone getting their stock wheels stolen, but the car left untouched? It\'s just another way for Markham Mazda to get more money from you. Are they going to cancel the deal if you don\'t buy the locks?

If they are requiring you to pay, get pissed and walk away... especially with three other buyers with you. I gurantee they\'ll call you back right away and offer you the lugs and more.

Ontario Mazda threw them in for nothing, altho I\'m sure you pay for it some how. Once a car comes in they put them on because they\'ve had enough rims stolen off cars that are sitting on their lot. I\'m sure they\'ll throw them on for nothing if ya bitch a little.

Yup for sure I won\'t let them go in with \"additional cost\" to the negotiated price when the time comes. (thinking to self... gotta stay strong and stand up strong) :D

I baught mine from Erin Mills Mazda. I got the wheel locks for free. They are handy... I have heard stories in M3F about people\'s rims getting punked.

I wouldn\'t be surprised... the little kiddies these days seem VERY bored with their own personal lives that they gotta go around spraying people\'s homes and cars and knocking over tombstones and stealing stock rims... hehehe

its a reality, people steal rims, stock or a/m rims
a number of people have complimented the stock rims.
i handle claims everyday where people have stolen all 4 tires and rims.
lock nuts are valuable asset, should be thrown in for free.
dealers want to squeeze buyers for every dollar, i feel they should give a little back also.
a/holes at dealer did not even give me a free first oil change. last time i go there for servicing. it wasn\'t the dealer who sold me the car, however they installed my emblems no questions asked.

The emblems are free. The dealers have been instructed by Mazda Canada to install them on all cars upon their first service visit.

The rims is one of my favourite exterior features of the car. I purposely drive the speed limit in School Zones so I can see my reflection off of other cars... watch my rims spin...

so purrty....

Hey.. I can admit it... I\'m in love with my car. Its my baby. I\'m very attached to it. Seeing it dirty annoys the hell out of me. I keep a towel, Meguires clear coat wax, \'Absorber\' cloth, Meguires ScratchX and a spray bottle of water and a spray bottle of windex in my trunk (under the adustable floor of my hatch)... and a microfibre cloth in the arm console for the interior. I have had my car since Friday, May 14... put more than 800 km\'s on it already and I still have those paper mats that the service guys left in my car. I use it so I don\'t start wearing off the actual floor mat yet. My car has never been eaten in, drank in or smoked in.

My car is a work of art, and I plan to maintain and love it as so. I am proud to be an owner of a Mazda3. Say what you want about my love life and my relationship with my car. I wouldn\'t have it any other way. :D

Hey Xenon, no complaints man, once I get my Mazda 3 I can guarantee my gf (of two years) will be jealous... VERY. :)

I checked out your personal web site through a link (I think I saw it in Mazda3Forums.com)... we grew up similarly with regards to parents teaching us to $ave $ave $ave. However I failed to do so in my first few years of working an actual job. You\'re 19? I\'m 25... I haven\'t even saved up enough to fully purchase the Mazda3 I want, thus I have no choice but to finance. That and you started investing already? Man I wish I started getting into that at an earlier age. I only started investing earlier this year. :(

Similar background too... I\'m Chinese but moved here from HK when I was 3 yrs old. :D

Back to the original topic... I\'ll definitely be keeping some of the same cleaners as you in my new car. I\'m already picky enough with people touching my monitor/screen and getting their oily prints all over the thing. I\'ll be even more annoyingly picky with a new car to call my own! :)

Yeah, I didn\'t even have to ask when I picked my 3 at Ontario Mazda. I opened the glove box and there they were. Funny how people would steal stock rims at the dealership though, they had my 3 for 6 weeks getting the crash sensor fixed and no body stole my stubby antenna. I thought for sure over the course of 6 weeks it would be gone.

I didn\'t mean people stole stock rims from the dealership... I meant after the car was baught, and parked somewhere, people would jack up the car, steal the rims/tires and leave...

Bet you they were Protege owners :p j/k

i knew the emblems are free, but the dealer (not my original one) installed them without asking me if i purchased the car there or not, and a day later my salesman gave me a 2nd set.
i would of liked to install them myself, as i am not to keen on having themon the side.

I like them on the side. But I won the hatch, and the bottom right corner looks a little empty...

thanks bluntman. I didn\'t really notice they were missing. Any idea why they don\'t come with the car when you pick it up and why Mazda has them installed later. Is it supposed to be incentive for taking your car back to Mazda on the first visit?

last i heard was cutbacks .. but umm seriously how much would those badges be? either way make sure you get them! and if you don\'t ike them you can always sell them (just tell the dealer not to attach them)
