Toronto Mazda3 Official Car Meet Announcement
UPDATED 06/19/04
Toronto Mazda3 Car Meet #2
Lakeview Park, Mississauga (On Lakeshore, <1 km East of Cawthra)
Baseball Diamond #3 (As seen on attached map)
Saturday, June 26th, 2004
4:00 PM
Notes:
See map at bottom of this post for location. Meet in the parking lot of Baseball Diamond #3 (as seen on attached map). If a baseball game is being played, for the safety of members and their cars, we will move to a different location at 4:30 PM. Note this second location may not be in the park. Please have contact information of a member that will definately be there on time to get the new location. Check this post at a later time for updates. I\'ll re-edit this post as necessary with new information when it becomes available.
Reminders:
Bring Your Camera! If you have one that takes panoramic shots, that would be nice. It\'s hard to fit 12 cars in a row into one frame nicely.
Location Information:
http://www.slopitch1.com/map/mississauga/CrookesWaterLakeview.jpg
More specifically...
Lakeview Park is 0.7 km East of Cawthra. Entrance to the parking lot in which the meet is being held is 0.4 km from the main entrance of the park, after the first two speed bumps. I will be there at approximately 3:30 PM to establish our location.

Those panoramic cameras just crop the top and bottom of the frame. I can take a wide shot in high res with my camera (6.3 mega pixel - 3072 x 2048).

What ever works! I just want a pic of all the cars in a row... mine from Meet #1 came out ok, but I\'m sure you cam will do a better job (Mine\'s only a entry-level 2 Megapix)

This thread has been deleted as it contained incorrect information, and to reduce confusion.
Note: Post 1 has been updated with a new map.

Keep in mind, you\'re showing two different parks here... :p
The Lakefront Promenade Park is a bit further west and you don\'t get in via Hydro Rd. It\'s a one street west on Lakeshore from Hydro Rd.

In that case... which park do you want the next meet to be at? the praminade one or the other one? we can go the the more Easterly one to make it a bit easier for those people in Downtown and the East end.
Hey, whoever took PICS from the first meet, can you email me some of the good ones? I wanna post some up for everyone that missed the first TM3 meet.

Note of Ammendment To Original Forum Post
I have accidently posted a link to a map that was not the same park as the original one mentioned in the first Post.
To correct this, I have replaced the original map found in the first post, with one that shows not only the location of the park, but where in the park we can meet. I recommend an area around \"Baseball Diamond 3\". We will have a the lake as a backdrop for photos in that area.
To further clarify the location of our second meet, the post in which incorrect information was written has been deleted and can be noted as such.
Sorry for any confusion. The map in the first post of this thread is now correct and more specific. Please post any comments/objections to meeting at \"Baseball Diamond 3\" in this thread.

Hey Xenon (or anyone else who\'s a member of Mazda3 forum),
Why don\'t you start a new thread in the Canada section with the same title as this one and post a link directly to this thread.
I would do it, but I\'m not currently a member and don\'t wish to sign up to that one as of yet.

Good call... I was planning to do that, but only when we have finalized are meet plans. They are close to being final, I just want to give people time to speak out of any Conflicts of time location etc.
But nevertheless, I\'ll make a post in M3F. If anything is updated, they will have to check for themselves.

Sticker Availability -- In Time For The Meet
Toronto Mazda3.com Stickers will be available at the upcoming TM3 Meet at the price of $7.00. I have only ordered 25, all in White. If you people like the stickers, I will re-order more. Second Time around, we can order different colours. Colours available are blue, red, yellow, black and white. At the meet, I will take a accurate number of additional orders for the different colours.
If you are interested in a white one, please have your $7.00 ready for the meet. Stickers will be sold at a first come, first served basis. If you plan to be late for the meet, you may PM me and reserve up to two (2) stickers.
Sticker Dimensions are 14.3 cm x 3.0 cm (WxH). They will fit nicely in the corner window of both the hatch and sedan. They will also fit below your license plate (they will not block the lettering, except the \"Yours To Discover\" portion). Please note that a sticker made specially for the sedan is being developed. However, there is no gurantee that we will produce the sticker. We are in the very early stages of the sedan sticker. Do not expect it any sooner than July. The current design will fit in the back corner window of the sedan quite well. See the \"TM3 Stickers\" thread under \"Toronto Mazda3 Club\" for more details on the current and upcoming sedan sticker.
Stickers are expected to be in by the end of next week ( Approx. June 18th). I will put two on my car, take some pictures so you can see what it looks like, and bring the rest to the meet.

As of now, I think the best spot will be Baseball Diamond 3 (as shown on the map in the first post). Mainly because we have a waterfront for a background for pictures. Location will not be confirmed until one week before the meet. This gives time for people to put in their input. Feel free to put in your comments regarding the location.. If there are no comments or objections, the meet will be held at Baseball Diamond 3.

Toronto Mazda3 Official Car Meet UPDATE
Since I hear no objections, I would like to designate the location of Car Meet #2.
TM3 Meet #2 will be located at Baseball Diamond #3 in Lakeview Park Mississauga. If there is a baseball game, we are to meet in the parking lot/general location of the diamond and we can take a cruise to a different spot. Note, this second spot may not be within the same park. Late comers will have to have contact information to contact another person of the club for the new location.

The parking lot of Baseball Diamond #3 is ideal for a car meet. It is isolated (except from the baseball diamond) and has a huge capacity. Unfortunately there is no lake view from the lot, just the actual diamond.
For specifics:
Entrance to Lakeview Praminade Park is 0.7 km east of Cawthra Rd.
Entrance to the parking lot is 0.4 km from the entrance, after the first two speed bumps.
For convienience, this information is also in the very first post of this thread.

I\'ve read several replies (can\'t remember who, though) that said they aren\'t able to make this meet. Does anyone have a rough idea of how many people are coming?

EVERYONE WHO SAYS THEY CAN\'T MAKE THIS MEET:
Just a reminder there is a joint meet of TM3 and Mazda3 Team at Krispy Kreme (Mavis, South of 401) at 9 PM the same night. If you can\'t make the TM3 one, try to make the Krispy Kreme one.

Someone mentioned we should have two way radios.
I picked up a pair of Audiovox FR122C-2 Handheld radios today (the price was right). They are $39.99/pair. Single radios were sold out at the Best Buy I went to (403 & Dundas).
I\'ll either be near the front or back of the pack and I will give my second radio to either the person at the opposite end of the pack or if there is a leader of another Mazda3 Car Club (such as profusion from Mazda3Team) in the pack. It will help us stay organized.
Single radios are can be pretty cheap ($19.99 for a single radio, same make and model as the ones I baught). I highly encourage some people to pick them up if you can. it would be a lot easier to communicate in a cruise if everyone had one. After all, it\'s only $20. If you do buy a different set, make sure they run on FRS (Family Radio System)frequencies. This will ensure that we can talk on the same frequency.
Here are some features of the radio that I bought:
3.2 km Range
Uses 4 AAA batteries
14x38 Channel FRS Radio Frequencies (not too sure what the 14x38 means yet)
Built in VOX for hands free communication
LCD display
All controls are electronic. No dials or analog display.
