I don't know what the problem here is but when I'm in neutral the RPMs do this.
CPU? Intake? I'm just so confused by this. Only thing I have extra in my car is 2 lowbeam HIDs, 2 ballasts, and a harness for the HIDs.

What year is your car? I wonder if your O2 sensor is going and the temperature certainly isn't helping. Maybe it is misreading the amount of O2 intake and playing with the fuel to accommodate. That's a strange thing. When you are in a low gear low speed, will it push your car in a similar manor?

Turn the a/c off. Set it to floor vents only.... Does it still happen?

lol.. that's definitely not normal.. but why are you cruising down the road in neutral to begin with? Does it hop around when you're in D at say.. a traffic light?

If it makes you feel any better my throttle seems to be sticking. I put it in first and slowly release the clutch and away the car goes without me pressing the gas, rather fast too I almost hit a car. I do notice that the gas pedal is not aligned with the rest of the pedals but somehow its not affecting the rpms when its in neutral. In a way i like it cuz i wont stall but it may be bad for the engine.

Solution: Clean the throttle with a spray and a rag.
I found that disconnecting my battery to install those HIDs reset the CPU, and it acted like the throttle was clean so it kept bouncing the RPMs to find a good idle. So I cleaned the throttle and gee wiz it was so much nicer. I felt the shifts and acceleration were smoother because of it too. So if you habe this problem, clean you throttle.

Erratic idling and surging seem to be the norm if you clean your TB/MAF and don't reset the ECU, or if you reset the ECU by say replacing a dead battery and the TB/MAF are dirty. Either way, the two seem to be go hand and hand. Not exactly a fun thing to do in the dead of winter after replacing a battery.
