Anyone installed a tinted sun shade on the top of the windshield by yourself? I would like to stick one on myself, maybe a few inches wide.

you want it totally opaque? or just a tint? If Tint, is it a strip or gradually fades away as it goes down the windshield?

Tint. You can buy a roll of those at Walmart and apply yourself. But I don\'t know how it looks. I think I\'ve a roll of tint at home that I can play around with....

Another member in the forum, Fabian, had that done. I don\'t think he put it on himself but it looked good on his 3 (silver sedan). Check the archive for photos from the first club meet.

I remember. I think he got it done outside, it\'s pretty wide too. He even made fun of it saying he couldn\'t see the traffic signal at the stop line.

Yup, he was laughing about not being able to see what colour the light is so he has to stick his head out of the window to find out if he can move or not. :)

I donno about buying those rolls at walmart... you could get a lot of bubbles in the tint if you do it yourself.

I found the film in the basement and used it for \"experiment\". Works fine, got some winkles because it was folded (instead of rolled) for years but in general it\'s still ok. The job was done in less than 1hr (including trimming). I only got bubbles on the shaded areas around the mirror. I wonder if more water during the application would help.

Pretty nice job Newlook! Have you tested the rain-sensing wiper function?

I applied them inside as two pieces, so they don\'t block the sensors.

http://www.mazda3forums.com/images2/smilies/doh.gif Okay, I don\'t know what I was thinking before (no one would apply tint film on the OUTSIDE of a car).
