Hey forum, just wanted to introduce myself. Excited 'bout my "new to me" ride. Looking to start modding so am searching here for some "new to me" parts too but I'll post them in the right place. Heard 'bout the car meets so plan to get out to some...

First order of business.... How do I get the MT3 plates? Do they come with tinted cover

Lmmorden

Perhaps .... Thanks for the warning. I wasn't aware it was illegal until peterm15 pointed it out.. May give it a verrrry light nightshade

Question: when I'm in 6th and I tap the gas ever so slightly I noticed my shifter moves... Quirk? Or tranny mount? I have warranty but if it's a known thing without sport mounts then I'd just rather upgrade.
Thoughts?

... why are you tapping your gas in 6th when driving and looking at your shifter...? should be eyes up and foot on the pedal to maintain that speed. but i think its common, 2.5L gt guys, what do you say?

I'm not sure how to take that... Simple question was all

i notice a bit of vibration in mine. its not 100% solid and i would only assume it will move a bit or vibrate

I'm not sure how to take that... Simple question was all

so was mine.. more so i was wondering why you would be tapping the gas looking at your shifter wondering why it might move.. when i dont know why you would tapp the gas in the first place. that was all, not trying to be rude. just was trying to figure out the sequence that got you to do that to wonder if it was normal or not when tapping the gas in 6th i wouldnt consider normal is all

i remember the 2.5L had more vibration and movement compared to the 2.0L similar to the miatas and rx8s. but sadly we dont have any 2.5s in manual here. so i cant check one.:(

Tap is probably a bad verb... How I noticed it was crushing on the 400 in 6th I took my foot off the gas and was going to gear up for potential slow down but didn't need to... When I took my foot off the gas it moved.. When I reapplied the gas even ever so slightly as to maintain speed... It moved again. I do not look at my shifter while I drive but as I was anticipating a slow down, my hand was on the stick.. I do apologize for the confusion as it was probably my French coming out. As for vibration.. No vibration. The stick moves about .5 cm (no short shift)

Lmmorden

Cruising.. Not crushing.. Lol

it sounds like normal movement to me. i do remember my time in the gt and i did notice it move a bit more then my 2.0

My daughter told me I have a girl horn.... First mod officially decided

Lmmorden
01-31-2014, 01:29 PM
Horn mod plan: measure the frequency output of my current horn and use a tone generator to see which freq added to it would generate a chord of my liking.. Install 2nd horn as a complementary freq to create the chord of my desire.

peterm15
01-31-2014, 01:52 PM

My horn is a perfect c note @ 523.3 Hz... So to make a 2 tone power chord of root and fifth.. I need a root F note @ 349.2 Hz to use my horn as the complimentary 5th

On second thought the hella super tone high or rich tone high are tuned to 400hz about a G and sounds pretty good with the C..

Just add a FIAM low tone from canadian tire. 15 bucks each

I added 2 to of them to the existing high tone and it sound good and very powerful

Don't waste money on hellahorns unless you're going for the look (they look good)

Just thought I'd chime in on this to try and help you out. I've got an '11 GT and the shifter does not move at all when pressing or releasing the throttle in any gear. When I first bought my Mazdaspeed Protege years ago I noticed this same problem, the shifter would rock back and forth quite a bit in 4th or 5th gear. Turned out 2 of the 3 motor mounts were completely shot. If you're getting this symptom, I'd say your mount is starting to go, it's probably not too bad yet if it only moves a bit. I would look at the rear motor mount first.

if you havent. look into changing the daytime running lights, its a good idea. they will haze your headlights over time due to them running too hot. cs supplies them. either that, or people just unplug the stock ones.
