So my rear shock mount on the driver side died today. I'm on Koni Yellows. It just made a loud clunking noise, and it sounds awful when I hit any uneven spots on the road. This is what it looks like now:

Searched around and it seems like I need to pick up this part to replace it:

Would there be anything else I need to pick up and change?

I just did my passenger side one less than 2 weeks ago. Providing you can get those nuts free that hold on that mount, everything else is easy. No other parts required.
I got my part from parts source. Pretty sure it was a Monroe part. Was just under 50 clams

I just replaced mine last month.. if the boot is still good then all you have to do is replace the mount.

Just be careful when taking the nuts off.. my guess is that it'll be seized on there or if not seized, the rust will make it a bitch to get off.. if you can, use a small torch and heat up the bolt so the nuts spin off easier.

If you break a bolt off, then it's not that big of a deal.. just have to grind off the weld on the inside of the trunk, pop it out, put a new bolt in and away you go.

Went to Partsource as suggested. Bought the part and got it fixed up at Jimmys yesterday. Thanks all.

I also broke my shock mount yesterday when I drove over a big F**King pothole. I went to an autoshop to get diagnostic, and this is what they quote for me...

QUESTION: I feel like the price is a bit high to me since I don't have any knowledge on fixing suspension parts. ALSO, is it neccessary to change the shock absorber?

I only changed one shock mount since my passenger side was ok. And I'm certain Jimmy at Street Performance can give you a better price than $175.

If you know your shocks are going to go soon, might as well do it together and save on some labour.

+1. Go to Jimmy. Maybe your shocks are ok, just mounts are broken.

No, it was just one. I just double checked few minutes ago, and it looks exactly like OP's in his picture. The guy at the auto shop quoted 2 sets for me because he said replace one side will cause INBALANCE issue, which I have no idea if it is true or not.

Just a side note, the street I drove on looked like it just got bombed.

If you don't have any trustworthy shops around your area, and you don't mind the distance then make sure you book an appointment with Jimmy. However, Jimmy may not have the parts to replace for you. He will have to get parts, so I can bet that it won't be a one day thing for you.

That's true. I'm just concerning if it does more damage to my car if I don't fix it right away. I guess I might choose Select Mazda if Jimmy is too busy on the weekend

If both are broken, I'd be taking it to the nearest Midas or Green & Ross if you don't trust anyone. Just tell them you want the mounts replaced not the shocks if you know they are in good shape. It shouldn't cost you more than 2 hrs labour tops. The danger of driving it like that for 1 1/2 hours would probably outweigh the cost of this repair should something happen. http://www.activegreenross.com/tire-centre#mapList, http://www.speedy.com/English/Locations/auto-repair-hamilton-824-fennell-ave.

just buy your own and replace it yourself, it takes 30-60 min depends on your skills. I did mine 2 weeks ago, was easy.

Thanks bud. The reason why I don't want to go to Green&Ross is that I had a bad experience at the local shop. So I really want to get it fixed by a trustworthy guy. Since lots of guys are recommending Street Performance, I'd be happy to drive 1 hour for it. And it turned out it well worth the money and the time :))

I wish I have my own garage one day so I can mod everything I want LOL. But the reality is that I don't have the tools and space for me to repair it. Also, it is considered a big project for me at the time, so I had to pay extra to get it fixed :(

Also, it is considered a big project for me at the time, so I had to pay extra to get it fixed :( If you have a nice relative/friend with a garage, might be worth investing in some basic tools next round and doing it yourself. The money you save will pay for part or all of it. :) This is what I did years ago. Now I just don't have the freaking time to do it with kids requiring too much attention and coaching hockey.

That's life, isn't it? :P The sad part is I don't have any close friends who have a garage for me to work on my car, smh
