First time doing any audio work and i already regret trying to upgrade over the stock radio (car audio is not my thing). While in the process of installing my new head unit, i yanked too hard on the radio connector and as a result, one the of the wires came loose from the pin. There is no way to put it back unfortunately (i tried holding it against the contacts but reception is still compromised). So do i order a new cable (if that's even possible) or connector with leads and just splice the existing wire? Where would i find the aforementioned?

Thanks in advance.

That goldish colour pin inside the connector is somehow remove able. Once you do that hit up active surplus and find a match.

Got the greyish clip above it out and I assumed the clip would come out but it didn't.

The silver bit is held in place by one or more barbs that stick out. You can release the barbs by sliding a very thin screw driver in beside the pin, and then pulling the pin out. Use the small screw driver and needle nose pliers to carefully uncrimp the wire stub. Strip the broken wire end, crimp the connector to the stripped wire, and then solder. Make sure the wire extends down far enough that the solder joint catches some of the un-bent part of the pin. Keep in mind if you push the wire in to far you the connector won't mate with the socket. And you WILL need to solder.... the re-done crimp will not hold. Push the pin back into the connector and you are done.

I guess there are no other options and I have to solder...Haven't used one in years and it also means I need to buy one.

perhaps because electrical is not your forte, you should meet someone close to you who will help you fix this without destroying things further?
