2006 Mazda 3 Power Steering Issue

Hi guy and girls I have searched the web for hours and have found tons of info on a power steering recall on the 2007-2009. I have a 2006 Mazda 3 2.3L my power steering warning light came on and went off a few times each time it came on I would loose my power steering. The light has now been on for 3 days and I am without power steering. I called the dealer to price out the pump and he said that they have rarely sold any pumps for this year and model, he then told me that it is $1300 for the pump. Any ideas or past experiences with this issue on any other 2006 2.3L??? Thanks to all who reply to my post.

i have a pump if you want it. off a 2.3l 05 let me know. $60 and its yours

the dealer is trying to sell you a whole pump because they don't know how to look up the parts in the catalogue properly... I can't really fault them much because the 06 parts catalogue wasn't updated to show that you must buy the components separately
you can now buy the reman hydraulic portion of the pump... it's less than $100, it does not include the electric motor assembly, that is what you reuse as they rarely go bad (it is also the most expensive part)

follow the instructions of the 6010H power steering recall exactly for proper and trouble free replacement
