View Full Version : Whats the origin of your TM3 name?
bluntman

I\'m just curious as to how everyone came up with their screen name.
\"Bluntman\" is the superhero alter-ego of Silent Bob, one half of one of the greatest comic duos of all time, Jay and Silent Bob. Check out \"Mallrats\" or \"Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back\".

Because my last name is Mack, buddies in highschool would call me \'miggiddy mack daddy\' from the Criss Cross days. You can imagine all the variations I\'ve heard due to the last name (mack daddy, daddy mack...:sarc ) it\'s all good tho;)
Dr Butcher
06-28-2004, 03:57 PM
Mine\'s part of a title of an old horror flick Dr Butcher M.D.
When I activated my xbox live account I wanted something that sounded intimidating yet was a bit funny. I chose Dr Butcher, now I pretty much use it at every forum I join because it\'s easy for my rapidly declining brain cells to remember... :D
Grifter

Mine is a comic book character. He is/was part of a team called the WildCATS. He was a bit of a loner but still pretty cool, kinda like how I was back then (except the pretty cool part), so I thought it was appropriate. University\'s made me grow up a bit and improved my social skills :sarc so the name probably doesn\'t apply anymore, but I\'m too lazy to think of something different.
wtom - Plain and simple. First name Warren, last name Tom. I try to maintain this in all of my logins, email address, etc.
Yes, people call me Tom.
Xenon
06-28-2004, 09:19 PM
Xenon - Goes back to the beginning of high school. I was (and still am) in love with BMWs. I also was doing very well in Chemistry. For fun, I did a whole report on what Xenon lights are, how they work, and why BMW has elected to be the first automaker to mass produce the bulbs for automotive use.
In that report I learned how Xenon\'s work, why they work and why they are so effective. I also studied the legality of the bulbs and how they designed Xenon\'s to a) fit into a headlight housing, and b) what had to be done to make them legal for use on the street. Since that report, combined with my love for BMWs, my close friends started calling me Xenon, or Xe (pronounced Zee) for short. I\'ve been using the handle Xenon online since late 1998.
And as icing on the cake, my report was officially entered as bonus work for my Grade 11 Chemistry Independent Study Unit. The teacher was so impressed at the depth of the report, I earned an extra 10% on my final mark, putting me in the top 10 chemistry students in the school, with a Chemistry mark of 93%.

I was a huge war plane freak when I was growing up. My grandfather signed me up for these \"War Plane collector Set Cards\" the first one I ever got that I really liked was the \"Fairey Swordfish\"... somehow Fairey didn\'t seem like a wise choice...
Then they made that stupid movie [ which is a great film.. but now everyone uses the name ] and I gotta fight to get it everywhere... anyway...
Voila!

Newlook
06-29-2004, 12:55 PM
My favouite type of bus - GM \"New Look\" buses
\"Newlook\" is a common name in the 60\'s for buses with the large bubble windshield. They\'re also nicknamed \"fishbowl\" because of the shape of the windshield that looks like part of the traditional goldfish fishbowl. Newlook/fishbowl generally refers to the ones made by GM because of their huge production from 1959-1986. They are one of the best built buses around, literally they are tanks and never die.
Below is a 1972 T6H-5306 model, retired in 2002 (yes, 30 years). This bus rocks!

Since I got a new car.... so it\'s a new look for me and my family as well, so I use the name.

now that we are on this topic, can I change my name??
see I don\'t really like my nickname right now, and would rather fall back on a nickname that has been with me since high school days.
any way I can do this??
Black3 is pretty dry and lame, my car is black and for obvious reasons the 3 represents the name of my car. I was kinda of excited when i signed up and was at a loss for a nickname.
so if any one can help let me know.
i did try going to \'myhome\' but doesn\'t seem like i can change it there.
thanks in advance.

Soulcrusher

My name came from the long ago days when I would play Mechwarrior 3 online. I had finished the game on the cpu and thought I was pretty good. Then when I played against real players, I got my ass whupped pretty damn good LOLZ :p
Anyhow, I started chatting up with a group called the Demon Spawns of Hell (DSH). They were very, very good and took me under their wing. I started learning how to REALLY play the game. I had to think up of a name and saw a science fiction/fantasy book that had names of mystical swords. One was Soul-something-or-other. Anyway, I liked the word soul and needed another word to append to it. Since I was competing against other players and was planning to crush them into oblivion ... voila - DSH_Soulcrusher. :)

In high school I played a lot of sports such as hockey, baseball, tennis and basketball. I was always very accurate so the boys called me a \"Sniper\". Later it was refined to \"Snipes\" to sound better. There is somebody on these chat boards called \"Snipe\" and that is not me

teambedlam
09-10-2004, 07:20 PM
It\'s roots go back 8 years when a group of my friends were on a provincial committee for Scouts Canada. We were taking part in a discussion group and we were at the back table of the room. We called ourselves the \"Back Table Discussion Group\". That evolved into \"Bedlam\" as the group became the \"peanut gallery\" that was there to heckle.
It then evolved into Team Bedlam as our membership increased. I then changed it to Teambedlam when i started up my video production company.
I think that covers it. :)

As for Saphress.... saphire.... blue... my fav colour, and usually my second handle.

BETRTHNU
10-16-2004, 06:45 PM
Kinda long but I think worth the read...
I was playing the 20-40 hold em at port perry when a guy noticed I was wearing a honda cap and started the whole import/domestic crap at the table. Told me his son\'s Neon could beat my Prelude etc etc...Some other guy at the table (4.6l mustang owner :p ) started the same old crap..I told him that his son he could come meet me at St.Thomas raceway anytime (since the man was from London) and we could settle this and I could guarantee that I\'d beat his N/A Neon. He kept saying how his son\'s ride was better than mine etc. Mustang guy would throw his 2cents in... Honestly I was sick and tired of listening to both of them. It was me Neon and Mustang in as everyone else had folded, I was holding 9 10 of hearts and decided I\'d call and see a flop. Flop comes Jack of Hearts, King of Hearts and Nine of Diamonds. I got gutsy with my pair of nines and Straight flush draw and bet. Mustang raises and Neon calls. So I say what the hell...best he has is 3 of a kind maybe so I call. On the turn my money card comes...Queen of Hearts...I decide to trap these idiots...so I check and then mustang checks(which suprised me) and Neon bets. I raise and mustang folds. 1 down.
So Neon re-raises...I say whatever bitch and re-raise him. we do this until we get to the table max. River card comes and its the Queen of Spades. So after some jabs at one another and a full round of betting I tell him that he should have folded at the flop because his son is going to be pissed that daddy won\'t be able to pay for any mods..:p
He tells me that I\'m the one thats going to have to take the bus home to toronto because I won\'t be able to afford to put gas in my car after losing this pot. He also added that he\'s going to show me how much better a poker player he is....hahahahaha
I flip over my 9 10 of hearts and the whole table loses its mind...he throws down pocket queens with anger..he sadly had 4 of a kind. An amazing hand any other day. He thought I was on a straight draw....lol
so I add insult to injury and said well I guess Neon that I\'m just much better than you (BETRTHNU) I collected my chips and left the table but before I left...I said tell your son I\'ll be at St.Thomas...look for the red prelude with the license plate BETRTHNU...
That now is my screen name and the plate thats going to go on the M3. :D
AfterBurner
10-19-2004, 02:48 PM
It\'s actually autoexec.bat. Look who the DOS nerd is now! HAHAHA:D
I am not going to quote BETRTHNU\'s post since its soo long, but finally someone with some history in there name. AfterBurner comes from a fighter aircraft\'s thrust booster. I like airplanes and combat flight sims plain and simple. Comes from living right by the Dubai airport when I was young. Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates and holds one of the few international air shows where aircrafts from around the world especially military aircraft are shown. Lived soo close that the windows would rattle when an F15 or Mirage would fly past.

SI - trim level of the car

SourcE = the snowboard shop in Calgary where I used to work, again added a upper case E at the end to express my awesomeness :D :D

My last name is Fu.
Back in elementary school, my friends used to make fun of it and said
\"F u man\". I got used to it, and combined it into a \'word\' and there u go Fuman
When i moved here in 96\' my name (being gareth) was not particularly common.
At first they called me G and it eventually became GG.

Zaku_4
06-16-2005, 09:18 PM
well,
i remember back in grade like 6 or sopemthing while i was still downtown, one of our \"assignments\" was to create a email. lol so at that time i was still very into these things known as gundams. lol originally i just wanted Zaku but then hotmail had that already or soemthing so they required me to have an _4. lol i have many other handles like. docomofo_4, biznatch_4,eatme_4,illfixyou_4 etccc lol depends what its for. for most forums im zaku_4. in games im usually docomofo in cs, retired the zaku_4 handle from cs, and for blogspots(friendster, aa, xanga) yeah im the other stuff.
lol one of the ways to know if you see my car or not is if u look in the back of my car, theres a little zaku gundam right in the middle of the trunk cover =D

it\'s a nick my friends gave me from my days at UW. While most people did work terms mostly in the GTA, I did one of mine in Brantford, away from \"civilization\" as they called it. When I did college afterwards and got another work term in Brantford (in a completely different industry), the name stuck.
Course, I do try to escape from the \"wilderness\" as much as I can on weekends. :D

Back in 1998 when the whole high speed internet started to take off. I was online play some game and I needed to register on MSN game network or something of that sort.
Well, one of the things they had there was an alias generator, I clicked that and voila iconicrocket came up and I just used it from then on.
Now some musical band has registered iconicrocket.com. Damn, should have registered that long ago.

Hahaha you calling yourself a penis? I\'m gonna keep an eye out for any new user signing up here with the screen name \"chacha\" ... although that also means FORK in Cantonese kekeke (amongst racial comment). :p
Chacha means something else in Mandarin...
SoopaBanana: some girl dubbed the nick \"Banana\" on me and I\'ve been using it since... Back in IRC days it was difficult to fight for the nick \"Banana\" (didn\'t know it was a popular name) so needed to find something else to add to it. For some reason \"Soopa\" (fob way of saying Super) came along and I\'ve been using that nick 8 years running.
What does \"chacha\" mean in Mandarin??? :p

Chacha in Mandarin means the action that you perform with a fork.......... *ahem*

I don\'t like that kind of cha cha;)
Hey soopa, does that mean that you are a bannana in the sense that you\'re yellow on the outside but white on the inside? That\'s me cause I can\'t speak chinese very well and am pretty much \'canadian\'

I used to be an anime fan back in high school, and have had this username since then. Shenlong was a Gundam (Super-Powered 50-foot tall robot) from the show Gundam Wing. Also, every character on the show was named after a number, and Shenlong\'s pilot, Wufei, was named for the number 5. So you see...
GW = Gundam Wing
Shenlong = Shenlong Gundam
05 = Shenlong\'s Model Number
...
I really need to think of a new username.

When i came to Canada almost 3 years ago i realized that being Canada a multi-cultural country i should reinforce my identity and show everybody where i came from, either way i\'m becoming a proudly Canadian citizen but i wanna keep my roots and identity from where i came.
That\'s for Colombian and for cool; its just a way to let everybody know that i\'m a nice guy b/c Colombia and its people unfortunately are not so popular for good things.

Caz is a one of my many high school nicknames. I don\'t get a tan too easily so my friends started calling me Casper (as in the ghost) one summer, it later changed to Cazzy and then finally just Caz. Some people who I have met many times don\'t even know my real name and only call me Caz.

Black - one of my favorite colours
Dragoon - took it back from the days of the game \"Legend of Dragoons\"... although i had played only about 5 minutes of it. From that sense, \"dragoon\" meant someone who had the abilities and powers of a dragon. But it can also mean a Japanese, horse-mounted warrior.

Picked my name about 1989 when I first got online (BBS/x.25 network days)
By definition it means:
1. A supernatural intervention in human affairs.
2. The performance of miracles.
3. The technique of persuading a god to do something.
It's apparently related to the ancient neoplatonists.
I picked it completely at random from the dictionary, thought it sounded cool and it's stuck ever since. Still wish people could learn to pronounce it though..
THEE URGE GEE ... not THE ORGY or whatever other bastardizations of the word.

Hahahaha, well, there are actually a few stories that go with it, but here's the original: (Don't be prepared for anything mind blowing... I just didn't want to type it out yesterday. not a WONDERFUL story.)
Every year, the "sophs" go camping, kinda a team building thing... but mostly a drunk-fest. This particular year, we went to a place called "Country Camping"... a lot of people have heard about it. It's kinda a sketch-ball place, owned by the Hell's Angel's, or so the story goes. Well, this was my first year on the team, so I didn't really know many people, and we were trying to figure out rides, so we didn't show up with 75+ cars. I offered my car, becasue who wouldn't want a ride in the MZ3... :chuckle I was driving 2 people that I had never met before. In the car, 2 of us (including me) realized that neither of us had brought a tent or made sleeping arrangements. Not a big deal, we'd figure it out when we got there. Him and I decided that, since we didn't have a tent to put our stuff in, we'd just leave it in the car, unlocked, so we could both get to it easily. No problem. At night, we agreed it'd be a good idea to lock the car (see above about 'sketchiness' of camp ground). No problem, again.
After a night of... mingling... possibly with a few bevvies in hand, I decide to call it a night, probably around 3:30 or 4. Look around to the few left at the fire, and I don't see him. Great, he's already found a place to crash. Awesome. I stumble into some tent and go to sleep. In the morning, I happen to be the first one awake. I crawl out of my tent, rub my eyes, and what do I see, but my friend... asleep... on a picnic table... in shorts and a tshirt... above the red embers of the fire. Turns out he HADN'T found a place to sleep. He was just not around the fire. When he came back, he couldn't find me to get into the car, where EVERYTHING that he had brought was. He tried to sleep in a tent, but got too cold, because he didnt' have a sleeping bag, or even a sweater. Oops.
He got over it.
Since then, I've been called LockOut. His name became Yogi...

so anyways back in those days we had a tv vcr in our pod and the movie i always had on was this old school Hacker Movie called Sneakers...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105435/

First part of mine name comes from a few different angles. The most obvious that people guess is Iceman from the X-Men comics which is true to an extent. It was mostly because of me being a pretty big computer and IT geek and after seeing the move "The Net", there was a person in a chatroom on there with Iceman and I always thought it was cool.
The 2nd part comes from my like of F1 racing. Though you could say the whole part of my name is from the racer "Kimi Raikkonen" in F1 as he's sometimes known as "Iceman". Mostly though, I started using the ending F1 as a way to seperate from all the other Iceman's on IRC and other forums back in the day.

i googled my name and my deviantart profile is the third hit. Apparetly my name has more meaning than i orignally thought though, its some characters name in an 1989 gundam wing book (which i would have never read lol) and theres actually a guy on facebook with this name!!! i found that crazy, some guy in hong kong has his actual name as my alias ive been using for the past 4 years which i randomly made up lol

FNKYSHT - short for Funky Shit .. not F$#%en Shit ... I was a DJ in my 20's and played at Government, System, Roxy etc .... This one girl that I couldn't stand would always show to my gigs and say in her screetching high pitched voice ... "FUNKY SHIT >>> FUNKY SHIT" over and over again .. it was the most annoying thing in the world ... anyway, her voice still echoes in my nightmares.
There you have it !

Scotticus

My friend and I were trying to think of the long-name of Scott... John has Johnathan, Will has William, Don has Donald, etc, etc, etc. So what, Scott has to get short-changed with a one-syllable label?
Scotticus was all we came up with (paying tribute to Atticus Finch, maybe)

She_Prime was a one episode character on the cartoon series Undergrads. She was an online girlfriend to the character Gimpy who was my favourite. He broke up with her and she reaked havoc on him electronically.
It's not a childrens cartoon. It was on teletoons evening line up. It only lasted a season though.
So that's where my name comes from. A lot more elaborate than most peoples stories

Hyperion
03-16-2011, 12:30 PM
Hyperion (Greek Ὑπερίων, "The High-One") was one of the twelve Titan gods of Ancient Greece, the sons and daughters of Gaia (the physical incarnation of Earth) and Uranus (literally meaning 'the Sky'), which were later supplanted by the Olympians.[1][2] He was the brother of Cronus. He was also the lord of light, and the Titan of the east. He was referred to in early mythological writings as Helios Hyperion (Ἥλιος Υπερίων), 'Sun High-one'. But in the Odyssey, Hesiod's Theogony and the Homeric Hymn to Demeter the Sun is once in each work called Hyperionides (περίδής) 'son of Hyperion', and Hesiod certainly imagines Hyperion as a separate being in other writings. In later Ancient Greek literature, Hyperion is always distinguished from Helios - the former was ascribed the characteristics of the 'God of Watchfulness and Wisdom', while the latter became the physical incarnation of the Sun.

the very first forum I ever joined I went with vEXed cause I drove a Civic EX model. Then I sold that and got a CX (so I change my ID) and then a DX (changed it again)..and all of a sudden my ID didn't make sense when I bought my 300zx. Then it was weird when I moved on to the vwvortex....
I was tired of trying to remember all the Log-Ins/passwords for all the forums and websites I was occasionally on, so decided to have one generic name - but most forums wouldn't allow "User Name" as an ID

My old neighboors name is also Rene
He was an old man
I was 10ish
allthough i was freekishly tall for my age i was still smaller than him so he was named big and i was named small
i hated being called small so i made my friends pick a different nick name for me
we would play alot of league hockey aswell as road hockey..
while playing road hockey at one point, we decided it would be cool if we pretended to be actual nhl stars..
my favorite player at the time was ED JOVANASKI so when we were on the road I was Mr. Jovanaski
and i would always wear my ice hockey gloves which were branded JOFA
Jovanaski + Jofa = JOVA
so my friends started callin me Jova instead of "small" .. even to this day im always introduced as Jova... its a good ice breaker!
as for the 87 well i was born in 87... lool
Thanks for reading

Hyperion
01-12-2014, 08:28 PM
In Greek mythology, Hyperion (Greek: Ὑπερίων, "The High-One") was one of the twelve Titan children of Gaia (Earth) and Uranus (Sky or Heaven) who, led by Cronus, overthrew Uranus and were themselves later overthrown by the Olympians. With his sister, the Titanide Theia, Hyperion fathered Helios (Sun), Selene (Moon) and Eos (Dawn).[1]
