OK, so my BC Coilovers are coming off. too expensive to replace blown rear shock from hitting curb and a leaky front strut. I'll post the lot in Classified shortly for anyone interested in spares. I've purchased a set of Eibach Prokits and am looking to mate with KYB's. The Koni Yellows are way too rich for my blood at the moment. What I'd like to know from anyone who has Prokits is does the backend dip like mad with passengers and a load of travel baggage or scrape a small bike rack full of bikes (3-4)? I do a lot of highway miles picking up my kids and going on bike rides so am wondering if I should change my mind on the Prokits or just go back to stock, I used to have my coilovers set with just less than an inch drop? I'm also not thrilled at the possibility of having to buy camber arms either, just an extra cost I don't need. Thoughts and experience would be appreciated. I have the RX8 wheels with newly wrapped 225/40/18's Conti Extremes.

For the camber arm issue; you might be able to get away without them. Can't really tell from now for sure, as it's mostly situation dependant. Some end up needing them, some don't.

As for the prokits compressing too much under load; will depend if you're buying new or used. If you've bought a new set, I'd say the chances are slim to none that you'll get enough weight in the back to cause any issues. My (very) used set of prokits only really compress a lot with about 8 wheels/tires in the back. With that might weight, I did start to rub on certain large bumps etc. But with just three passengers back there or weights of that magnitude, even used prokits won't give you many issues in that department. I guess it's worth noting my experience comes from prokits paired with yellows at about 60% stiffness. Not sure how different the behaviour would be for your KYB shocks.

Hope that helps.

I have a brand new set I just picked up and will be picking up kyb's at a good deal as well. With Prokits somewhere around th3 $800 dollar range, it's out of the budget for now. I'm also ordering new strutmounts and shockmounts so I don't have to worry about them going in the next few years. I was most concerned about the weight and bottoming out in the back. Thanks for the feedback.

Prokits are fairly soft. Have you considered Road Magnets? Less drop and stiffer IIRC.

I'd say its touch and go...If you'll be carrying weight you'll definitely be needing a camber kit, geometry changes with weight. As for weight, I loaded the car with floor tiles last summer 60lbs each box if I remember correctly, I could only carry 5 at one time, 6 would cause the back tires to touch.

If you'll be constantly loading up your car with passengers and weight I'd keep it stock height

I've just decided the heck with stock, can't do without a firmer ride. I'd be kicking myself later........Will hope someone has some Racing Beats to sell, but if not, not waiting it out, will mount my ProKit's and new KYB'S within the next couple of weeks. If I'm dragging anything along the way....then so be it...Doubt I will, but it won't be that frequently.
