Guys, check it out.. I uploaded photos of all the kits I\'ve found for the 3.
Let me know if there\'s more you find out there.

Is anyone thinking of getting any body work done?

The only body work I had done was the installation of what they call in the US as the Appearance Package (front and rear aero flares and the rear diffuser). That in itself is already way overpriced so an aftermarket body kit would be out of the question for me.

I would maybe consider if I had the budget, but that aside, I still have not seen a body kit for the 3 that makes it look better than stock. Not to mention Insurance will go through the roof if they found out a 19 year old male, driving a Winning Blue Mazda3 Sport GT had body mods on his car.

I think my insurance will double.

Would you really have to tell them that you installed a body kit? How would they ever know? I guess perhaps for insurance purposes if you ever get smacked and wanted the value added in, I wouldn\'t bother telling them;)

The thing is, lots of the insurance companies will void or reduce the amount of the claim if they found out that you put a body kit on with out telling them.

I know the policy of my insurance company is that they void the claim.

They\'ll even get you if they find out that you have an outragously expensive stereo that you didn\'t tell them about before it was stolen.

Bastards, anyway they can cheap out and save themselves some money they\'ll do it!:sarc Seems like they\'ll turn it around and blame you for installing a high end system, like you\'re \"inviting\" someone to break in to your car (like you want to)...SOBs

Sorry, heard that our rates aren\'t going down any time soon thanks to the provincial gov. Something about not enough gov. officials in at the time to sign some piece of paper to push something thru.

Really?

My buddy works for TD Meloche Monnex... which is my insurance carrier and they don\'t give grief about that stuff.. body kits, lowering, etc.. only if it is engine work like turbo that they would give you crap for not reporting.

To me that makes sense, now you\'re truly modifying the car\'s performance. I haven\'t seen or heard about how a body kit/tint/stereo increases the horse power of your car. Altho having a racing stipe or huge spoiler does :p

However, as soon as you tell them that you had a $8000+ stereo installed in your car and you only had basic insurance I\'d like to hear what they\'d say in that case.

I know with house insurance if you have a valuable items in your home that you haven\'t told your insurance company about or haven\'t take out extra insurance on and your home burns down or burglarized, the insurance companies won\'t cover you for the full amount of that item.

My previous insurance company was with Dominion and I never told them about my stereo. They only allowed me a maximum claim of $1,500 worth of stereo equipment/installation. The alarm was toast after the break-in and that was covered separately.

So, if you are a true audiophile and your stereo is worth lot\'s of $$$, you may want to ask your insurance company how much extra your premium would be to fully cover it. If it\'s not, then it wouldn\'t be worth it.

These days though, IMO it shouldn\'t cost you more than $1,500 to install a good system so I wouldn\'t recommend it.

By the way, how did a topic about Body Kits turn into a discussion about this??? :p

as nice as some of the kits are... I don\'t see anything that really strikes me as nice.
