Hey guys,

I'm looking for a 'sound system' that's similar to the Bose Wave Music System III, but not Bose.

http://www.bose.ca/controller?url=/shop_online/wave_systems/wms/index.jsp

Upon doing some research, everyone seems to say that Bose isn't worth the money, and that you can get something much better for a fraction of the cost. However, if the product that you recommend to me is that same price range as the Bose (~$600), I'd still consider it.

That being said, do you know of any active (not discontinued) sound systems that are in the market right now?

The criteria is:

1) It has to be ONE unit (not a receiver plus speakers, I want just one piece of equipment).
2) FM radio
3) CD player (doesn't have to be 6-disc, but it would be convenient)

iPod integration is always nice, but not a must have.

Thanks in advance!

You want audiophiles to tell you what "all-in-one" system to buy? You're asking the wrong people.

(Seriously though, even a cheap receiver + speakers will be better than most all-in-ones for the same price) If you're looking in that range, consider buying a receiver + speakers in 1 box bundles. (I use a relatively cheap set from Yamaha for TV)

My uncle has one. The sound quality is very good but not justified by the price.

My dad has a Harmon Kardon speaker similiar to that but ONLY for AUX/iPod input and it sounds bizarrely incredible given its size.

You'll be hard pressed to find something the size of the Bose that will be as loud and clear. That being said, it's in the same price point as many entry level set-ups that will (almost definitely) produce a larger/broader soundstage.

I'll see how much I can get one of those for and shoot a PM in your direction.
