I got an oil change a couple of weeks ago, and the service manager told me my brake fluid looked a bit low but it was probably due to brake wear. That's fair enough, but the brakes should still be in their serviceable lifetime...I did the fronts (pads and rotors) about this time last year, and the rears were done October 2012 (pads, rotors, e-brake and calipers). The car sits for about half a week at a time and I rarely drive far. I have a 2004 with a manual transmission, and I always park with my e-brake on. I've noticed recently that when I set off from my parking spot, I feel like there's a bit of a sound from the rear, like something stuck together letting go. I suspect something is sticking in the rear causing premature wear, but I don't feel anything dragging.

Extra disclosure: last fall the brake pedal went a bit soft, so I checked it in for service right away; the tech bled and replaced the fluid in the system and that fixed it, but he still suggested the booster check valve could be at fault. Haven't had any problems since then, but plan is to replace it if it acts up again.

Anyway, I haven't noticed any leaks and the hoses look like they're still good. I'm going to inspect everything when I do my seasonal change-over at Easter, but any suggestions on things to check in particular? Anyone else felt anything similar?
