I just bought a certified used Mazda.

The car was originally in Quebec but I plan to service it at Achilles Mazda in Milton Ontario. I'm working if they can access the service database for when the car was serviced at the Quebec Mazda dealership.

When I was searching for a maintenance history on my car a few years ago, the dealers I was able to track down were unable to search dealer to dealer.

Was told to go through Mazda Canada for the history. Got a bit of a run-around and then didn't bother to follow up.

Oh well, I was hoping for a bit more history so I do not replicate maintenance items that are due now.

The vehicle currently has about 85,000kms, has a clean carproof and checked out good mechanically. The selling dealer also provided what they serviced/changed to make the car certified...which was done before I looked at the car and I did not think to ask for previous history at the time.

I thought it was all tied to a database via the VIN?

It is, but unless it has changed a dealer cannot look dealer to dealer.

@Booter any insight?

I looked up my old car, and it was able to say oil changes and then written off. It was an Ottawa car.

At this point you would have to go from dealer to dealer except for Recalls. I tried, but gave up. Mazda brings up bulls about privacy law.

if the dealer that sold or serviced it is on the sytem then yes it can show up. it will be all in french so you have no idea what they said unless you can read french but it is there. as far as history dealers can show you the service completed as all it shows is the Vin and dealer code where it was completed and what time and mileage and a short description of what was done.
