View Full Version : 3m clear bra updates?
I was just wondering about everyone who put a 3m bra on.. how does it look a few months after? I\'ve heard some people complain of dust/wax/dirt collecting at the edges of the coating, making the line pretty visible... has anybody had a problem with this?

This problem is inherent with all clear bra applications, over time.

well my bra has only been on for about a month.
The line is there, but depending on how you deal with it, you can greatly reduce the appearance of the line.
For me, after washing and waxing, I use something semi soft (such as a toothpick) and run it along the edge. This will scrape out all the built up wax.
You can only see a line on my bra if you look at it from behind. Standing facing the front of the car, more than 3 feet away, the bra is pretty near invisible.
As a side note:
Get a LLumar clear bra instead of 3M. LLumar is optically clear, and better (newer product). The 3M is a little cloudy.

My clear bra is great. very hard to see the line unless you havent washed your car in a month. I decided not to get the 3M stuff but instead got a new product called Protection One. Its suposed to be a better product then the 3M stuff and I can say it probally will be because it has a Lifetime warenty vs. the 2 years that comes wiht the 3M stuff

Just a little update on the 3M bras. A friend of mine has one on his 2001 Ford Focus. Because of the contours in the hood after time the bra will start to open up at these contours and it is quite possible that water will fill inside the bra and along the contours. My friend experienced this. Eventually it turns to sludge and just builds up on the paint. The Mazda 3\'s have a similar contour on the hood and this may propose a problem. An easy fix to this is putting a small hole in your bra at the bottom end of the contour, down near the bumper. This will allow for any water that has build up to escape and not rest on your paint. Just a heads up.

I think the Llumar clear bra from FX has a warrenty for a year, if it starts to peel off or separate within a year, then they will redo it for free.
It may be lionger than a year for all I know. You\'ll have to ask whoever installs the bra.

I got the LLumar film from FX Auto as well. The brochure states that it has a Lifetime Warranty against the film turning yellow, cracking, peeling or bubbling.
Personally, I don\'t worry about whether the line is visible or not. You have to be at a certain distance and at a certain angle to see it. I just have peace of mind when I drive on the highway that I have that extra layer of protection. I still won\'t drive anywhere close to large vehicles unless I can clearly pass them quickly.

Lifetime warrenty? Nice... I didn\'t even expect that.

I\'m in the Mississauga area... where is this FX Auto shop located??? Phone number? Any idea on how much its costs or how long it takes to install??
Just a few questions because I would like the extra piece of mind since I drive a lot on the 400/401/403/QEW. Anyone know if they install the clear bra on the front bumper?

Hey,
Here is the information on FX Auto
http://www.fxauto.com/contact.htm
I got the LLumar Clear Bra done (hood, fenders & mirrors) at FX Auto in Markham also about a month ago. Results are good so far, most of the bubbles have gone away the last time I checked.
Give them a call phone and talk to Wayne or Martin, they are both very knowledgable and easy to deal with.
I\'m going back there next week to do tints.

Thanks mike,
There are still some \"weird\" spots where there used to be bubbles... I had to manual press down on it for the bubbles to go away. Since I\'ve never gotten a clear bra before I\'m not sure if these spots are normal. I will check with FX Auto this coming weekend when I\'m in there for tints and see what they say.
My bra from Fx auto also had one spot where the bubbles dried and left a funny looking elevated whitish spot. I think they thought it might be the solution that didn\'t quite clear out of there. Whatever it was, they were really awesome and re-did the whole thing after it didn\'t go away for a month or so. It was flawless the 2nd time around.. no complaints!

xoom,
Good to know. I have that same whitest spot on the passenger side fender so I\'ll have them take a look at it this coming weekend when I\'m in there to get my tints. Thanks for mentioning it.

how long does it take them to install the Llumar bra?
do I have to leave the car there for a day or do I just stick around for a couple of hours?
Are their kits pre-cut or they do it all custom?
Ray
I like mine nude without the bra. :D

how much? if he can beat fx auto\'s REP and PRICE of $375 tax in for tints and clear bra.. (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=313) then i MIGHT consider since he\'d be a bit closer for me..

the owner at Protint is Jon, he has a few different packages that he offers...so price will vary...is 375.00 for the whole front end or just the hood/fenders...any how give him a call he will work a deal for cash...good luck 905-517-9312...he also offers a lifetime warranty and a (dumb-ass warranty)where any thing gets fixed for free even if you accedentally scratch the tint of your own stupidity (keys/seatbelt/golfclubs,etc)scratsh or tear the tint
