Ok here is hoping this isn’t a stupid question. I was reading MSpeed thread and he talks about gauges to purchase. I just received my Pillar gauge pod and want to purchase the Boost, Oil Pressure, and exhaust temp gauges. Now my question is does anyone recommend any in particular. I was looking at Autometer Ultra L. what are other people’s thoughts. I am looking for ease of install but also decent quality.

prosport is what most of us run. Defi if you feel like ballin out.

Why exhaust temp? why not oil temp?

oil pressure and oil temp are key:

I just went with the 3 recommended by MSpeed in one of his treads. I know for sure I want boost and oil pressure but the third I'm on fence

Exhaust temp is good for tuning...esp self-tuning. Tho less so when we dyno tune.

Ok. I will be having you guys dyno tune so I will go with oil temp then

oil temp... you don't want to beat on a car until the oil is up to operating temp. N54 with Sport Package comes with an oil temp gauge (vs. the L/100 km gauge)...that's like hitting 88 mph, serious shit

you could skip the boost gauge and use your AP to monitor boost. if you're tapping the line by the BPV, you're reading the same value the ECU is anyway (unless you change your MAP sensor and want to verify your multiplier values in ATR are bang on)

Ok do we have a local vendor to get the prosport gauges from or should I order right from prosport themselves. I just looked at the halo ones and they look good

If you go with oil temp and oil pressure you will also need the adaptor plate which goes on to the spin on oil filter

Do I get that through prosport or can I find that somewhere else

You're probably better off just ordering straight from prosport

Ok. I'm just on their web and trying to figure out the adapter plate. They list 2. One for rx8 and one for mazda 6. I am assuming its the mazda 6 one

I don't recommend buying exhaust temp, the gauge is going to be useless unless you're able to understand what's going on.

also once you get your tuned right and running correct you don't really need any gauges.

I am not going to go with EGT as yes I don't know enough to read it. I did order 3 though. Ordered the prosport halo's boost, oil pressure, oil temp as well as the plate. hope I comes with the stuff to hook it all up.

When I got my gauges from Prosport (not halo) they had everything you need.

I think it's safe to assume you'll get it with these too.

I hope so. They are more of the higher end ones

I've got Defi gauges and my APv3 running in car, helped SomeGuy with his ProSport install. They both use the same stepper motor movement if i recall correctly, so it's really just down to sender accuracy, which is probably as close as it needs to be.

Running boost right now, but will be adding oil press and temp this season maybe. Maybe EGT if i feel ballin' later on.
