Anyone experience A/T probems? my tranny has seem to have lost 2nd gear.
Rev\'s high in 1st, dumps it into 3rd.The light on the dash indicates 1,2,3; however the car does not respond accordingly. The AT light has come on, registering an error code.
Anyone???
luckily i booked a service appt\' at mazda yesterday.
I will check in with details in a couple days.
I haven\'t noticed a TSB on tranny\'s.
looked around other mazda sites. haven\'t seen many AT problems.

Well, here\'s the update:
Trans. needs to be replaced!!
A/T on order, should be here on monday
the car went into safe mode(default), that is why is was acting eratic.
something is definitely wrong, service does not know what it is.
I am w/o my car this long weekend :(
but was given an 05 Mazda Tribute to drive.

once i know what the cause was, I will update.

Maybe the tranny was a lemon. I haven\'t had any problems with mine, it\'s actually quite smooth compared to the other cars in my garage.

At least it\'s all covered under warranty, a friend of my sister\'s bought a BMW 2 summers ago. The second week she owned it, her tranny died going to the cottage. The techs told her she shouldn\'t have driven it on the highway so soon after getting it. :sarc

These things happen, not every piece of equipment will last, there are bound to be failures.... Look on the bright side, you\'ve got a new tranny, which, if nothing else, should last you way past your remaining warranty.

question, did you use the \"tiptronic\" on the original tranny? take off hard from stops when in 1st gear?

I am not an agressive driver, I allow the shifts to complete, I hardly use the sequential shifter b/c i don\'t like using it.
new transmission in th car, not a refurb or rebuilt. shop does not know what happened.
I think it may of been a faulty transmission. I don\'t think I did anything, i don\'t abuse my cars or do neutral drops, or hammer the gas after a stop or light.

I did use it, but i would always allow it to shift into first and not jump the start.
sometimes i would roll the stops, but it would not shift into 1st, stay in 2nd.

was just wondering because i know some nissan automatics don\'t fare too well when manually shifted (this being the non \"tiptronic\" style transmission).

it was most likely a faulty transmission. here are some things to consider in helping the new auto tranny\'s life - a tranny oil cooler, running synthetic ATF.

Did you read about these guys on m3f who did a neutral drop from 6500rpm? It sucks how you were being gentle on it while these guys did some totally abusive stuff and theirs are fine.

Hopefully your \'new\' transmission will not have any problems.

I totally feel your annoyance that your new cars\' transmission went, yet your car is so brand new! But don\'t lose your confidence in Mazda.

Every car company have some sort of problems in 1 of their 100 cars. It just so happens that you were unlucky, but hey, atleast they fixed it for ya for free.

Be happy and enjoy your ride! :)
