Mazda does not recommend attaching the positive cable to negative cable to reset the KAM (Keep Alive Memory). Apparantly there have been a few cases that vehicles were damaged by this procedure. Afterwards audio units have stopped working, immobilizers, Touch Screen (2014). To properly reset KAM you must disconnect the negative battery terminal, get in the car, press the brake pedal about 5-10 times, turn on the headlights, press the horn. After about 10 mins it should be reset. Reconnect the negative cable and everything should be fine.
