so i went into the dealership after i found out the hazy headlamps for 2010 hatches were a recall. i went to markham mazda, who were great about the whole thing. got it done quite easily. jon the service manager was really nice about everything.

went from this

TO THIS

crazy condensation!

i went back in a week later, and they opened it up again, and cleaned all the condensation, and said he'd order another set of headlamps for me. problem is, after they cleaned it out, and put the headlamp back, an hour later, i noticed the condensation was back again, and just as bad. takes up like 50% of the entire headlamp. so now i'm waiting for the new headlamp to come in so they can change it.
anyone know why the condensation comes back so freaking fast?

Maybe because of the season, humidity is very high?

Speak to Mazda as there is a recall regarding the headlight fogging. Apparently they are opening the headlight assemblies and fixing them instead of just replacing them. Before the recall I've gone through 2 sets under warranty

I cant remember the recall number as I have the paper work at home. When I get home I'll pull the paper work and grab the details

Yikes, I've heard of this recall for the 2010's but I'm pretty sure my friends 2011 has some condensation forming.

I haven't noticed any in my 2012.

Headlights are suppose to have 0% condensation inside, regardless of the weather.

If the Mazda is still under warranty, they'll replace it (as long as you didn't crack it through an accident or had it modified).

there's a recall for certain 2010 hatchbacks b/c the headlamps get hazy due to the DRL's burning the inside.

the condensation problem came when they replaced the headlamps (b/c of the recall)

for all cars applicable to the recall, you get an automatic 7yr or 160,000km warranty. I'm the 2nd owner and I still get it. I'm just waiting for the new parts since they'll have to replace it again

If they still suck at fixing it come see me. I open/close lights for $200 and then we can add some personal touches starting at $50

I meant when they're fixing it, the humidity in the air is high, thus the humid air gets into the housing.

+1

I had condesation a few weeks ago... I removed one bulb from the housing, used the blowgun from my compressor and just blew dry air into it for about 10 minutes, then sealed it up quick. Haven't had an issue since.

I have opened my fare share of headlights in all kinds of conditions. The only way that the condensation forms is incorrect seal when the headlights are reassembled. Unfortunately the dealer has a very crummy way of opening and closing them. On the gen 2's you are pretty much obligated to completely remove the factory seal and use another form of reseal. Personally I like automotive silicon, seems to work miracles. Hyperion that's cheap for the gen 2's

Older GM's had this problem, their solution to this was drill a small little hole in the bottom of the headlight and no further moisture would form in the headlight
