Well, the above link to Mazda3 forums is down right now. But thank heavens for an earlier post by fat mike. I followed his instructions to the letter and successfully programmed the 3rd key on the first try.

I picked up an oil filter for my 2006 M3 last Friday, on the course of the purchase, I asked the parts person how much is the transponder key, he provided me the quote, the parts guy also informed me that the key needs to be programmed but I never asked him how much will it cost me and I know it will be too much. He only warned me of the circumstances if I try to turn the ignition on using an unprogrammed key.
My question now is, what will happen if I turn on the ingition using a new and unprogrammed key ? Will there be a negative effect to my ECU ?
The parts person warned me that I may \"Totalled\" the car if I use an unprogrammed key. I think, what he told me were all bull sh*t ! ! !
Can anyone enlighten me...
Would you like to know the parts dealer was ? BANK STREET MAZDA, Located in Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
Thanks and I will appreciate your response
