Heard that it's in Heartland now (Canadian Tire... Mavis/Britania)..... ?!?!?!
I have no confirmation, but that's what I've been hearing.

Oh god. I actually hope not.
Me too. The local meets at the Timmies by Terry Fox and Britania don't need any more attention. They've been able to maintain good turnouts without the unwanted attention from 5-O for quite some time. As well, this will definitely bring more eyes to the Suburu and VW meets the are held at the Krispy Kreme.
Also doesn't help that it borders residential areas.
Again, I haven't seen any confirmation... but from what I've been hearing and seeing online... rumors have it that it will be in Heartland.
(This feels like the days leading up to Lebron choosing his destination.........)
We have been having our genesis meets there also, but the last couple times we have moved to a different location and no one has gave an exact reason as to why. Not sure if this was to make way for them in the future? Would not be the most ideal spot for that many cars and people to gather anyways.

It really doesn't matter the location, if the location is free to Ertefa, it will likely last one meet, maybe two at most. The big sell to all the business in the area is revenue from the attendees. The businesses will likely quickly find out, the hassle is not worth the benefit.

I'm on the fence.
On one hand, as a local to the west end I'm happy to see more events take place on this side of the GTA. A lot of automotive enthusiasts from even further west (Niagara, Hamilton, Guelph, Grimsby, Thorold, Milton, Kitchener, etc.) would love to come out to events of this size, but find it too hard and time consuming to travel further east. This possible location would accommodate them.
On the other hand, there are already local meets that take place at the Krispy Kreme and Tim Hortons (Mavis/ Britania) on a weekly basis, that have good turnouts.... without the unwanted attention. With Ertefa coming in, for sure this will put everyone on alert. So even as Ertefa comes and goes, those other local meets will have to deal with the aftermath. Doesn't help to that Wal-Mart, which is right beside Canadian Tire, is open till 11:00pm. I'm sure that the Wal-mart Management, as well as the customers, won't be happy about the traffic this will cause.
(.... mind you that my above comments are just my opinion, and based on if the rumors are true that it will take place @ Canadian Tire in Heartland)
jay93
07-15-2014, 10:35 PM
If this is true, then this will last one night. Doesn't matter if the property management has given their permission. I've seen or should I say HEARD A lot of cats back firing around the Timmies located in heartland. Unless there is police supervision then this ain't happening

yes from what I hear its the canadian tire on mavis just south of the 401.they are looking for sponsors to sell booth space to in the parking lot to set up tents.i guess this is to help recooperate operating costs and planning time.

Nevermind. Did some research on them. How loud do some of the meets get?
Dave_The_BMXER
07-16-2014, 07:41 AM
It honestly depends. But it's louder than an average Thursday night which could be a problem to a resident in the area. Angry enough and boom.
Edit: Apparently confirmed 5970 Mavis Rd.

Clearly the reason they moved it to this location is because YRP probably wouldnt let them or specifically target the meet. That being said Ive been to the La Paloma meets for the past few weeks and aside from the occasional revving and people blasting their stereo , it seems alot more controlled than ertefa was last year around this time at the same location. Yes theres going to be less people coming to la paloma now but most of the troublemakers go to ertefa anyways and will leave la paloma to the respectful crowd. Also this new location isnt really central and I can see not many people coming from the east end. They should have kept the meets in woodbridge. Last years location was ideal as it was not too far from the 400 and was only a bit of a drive south to the 401.

Well, this is kind of weird. Ertefa wanted people interested to subscribe to a news letter that had the information about the meet but later on they end up posting a picture on instagram with the meet location. Anyway, who wants to make bets on how long this will last?
Shizuka_Osamu
07-17-2014, 06:44 AM
pretty sure the subscription is how they make their money.smart move on there end.good way for people to subscribe is to tell them to sign up so they can find out the location.they know it will be leaked in the end so might as well post it a day or two before.
Dave_The_BMXER

Subscription allows them to now send you sponsorship offers and the like. When approaching sponsors/advertising if you say you have a xxxx mailing list it is another incentive.

This. Smart idea especially if you dont plan on staying all night or it gets shut down. Im going to most likely be parking at KK with a bunch of other guys or even across the street and walking over to avoid all the commotion of having to leave and getting around all the people.

There's no way you'll be parked far enough away, unless you park at least 1-2 blocks away (ie somewhere in the residential areas). That CT lot is tiny, it'll fill up in the first 30 minutes, and then it will spill over into Wal-mart, Best-Buy, and that TigerDirect / Tommy Hilfiger lot.

stupid busy. just got home.
Was there for a few hours left around 1130, saw some people from here. The two main parking were full around 830-9 and then cars started spilling over into walmart and across to the other side of mavis. It was a pretty good turn out I would say, mind you I was not there until the end so I dont know how that went. Decided to park across the street like a bunch of other people, probably the smartest decision if you wanted to leave at anytime and have a clear path of getting out without the 30 minute wait. Hopefully this will be on here again, was surprised by the number of cars that showed up. Im sure there will be pics up soon everywhere

personally I thought it was awesome, fairly subdued (for Ertefa) considering how things went at their last location, other than all the morons doing burnouts on Plymouth Dr, and the occasional moron revving his engine.
The turnout was huge, when we were about to leave a guy from New York was asking us how to get to the border from here LOL! I saw a girl in a car from California, although I doubt she came all the way for specifically Ertefa.
It was cool meeting some TM3 members that I had never met. Especially the girl (sorry I forgot your username :P) with the Pink roof. I LOVE your car, it is definitely coming along nicely.
There was a huge police presence but none really seemed to be giving anyone a hard time. I feel like Mississauga police are a little more laid back about stuff like this...that or they just don't know how to handle stuff like this yet...maybe they will give YRP a call today.
^ The police could've also been lingering around afterwards checking out what was going on from the serious crash that took place in the early evening shutting off plymouth dr until just before 10 or so. Who ever was involved was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries. Just hoping that it wasn't due to one of the people who were attending trying to show off or something or I have a feeling this will not be taking place anymore if they find out it was.

It was a nice turnout....ertefa tried their best to keep it under control...but the amount of people its obvious that there will still be revving, burnouts, racing, ..etc so on..
Its first and last...this wont be happening every thursday as there a tons of complains...
Last night they might as well close down the whole street surrounding the meet... parking spots filled from CT to Futureshop to Walmart to AnW and so on..
Also the heartland area already have nice local mini meets..specially terryfox tims which every thursday and friday the whole parking is filled....last nights ertefa ...the streets cant handle it

agreed, honestly for that many cars you would need something like the Canada's Wonderland parking lot (never going to happen) or rent or buy an abandoned air field...which makes me wonder about some of the open fields in Downsview
also someone had a drone last night and it was going almost the entire night, the guy was pro at flying it, I am really interested in seeing how the footage turns out.

The drone was used by the ertefa people. I believe it is called the dji phantom or something like such. They use them a lot at music events to fly over the crowd and the dj to get over head shots. You can pre program a path, and speed and height and camera angle etc on them by computer an they will fly by themself and then return to their station which is mostly how they are used. It's too dangerous to fly manually if that thing gets out of control and you end up slicing a pedestrian open with the blades or people start throwing stuff at it to knock it down and you lose control, huge liability there.

There was a guy in a wheel chair with an iphone controlled remote control...it wasn't one of the super expensive professional ones it was one of the plastic/foam bodied ones that have plastic rotary blades

Cops were cool. Struck a pretty extensive car conversation with a police officer last night.
He talked about modifying his little Honda back in the day until he got married and bought a truck and now he wants to lift it and throw on some mudders.
Also, about the guy with the Bayside Blue-painted BCNR33 Skyline GT-R with the BNR34 front fascia...
He was just a Woodbridge tool with his parents' money. Didn't know anything about the car or the work done.
Just leaned on it thinking he was Brian O'Connor.
But, perhaps, worst of all was the fact that he looked and acted like Justin Bieber.

That's cool I was actually talking to some people about that last night the police would get a lot more respect if they did things like that more often. You hear of police forces taking their cars to the drag strip and legally drag racing modded car owners. But I was saying the police should have a couple "meet" cars that could be done up with all the legal mods showing what can be done, a slammed cop car with tints and legal exhaust and a cool paint job would be awesome and wouldn't alienate the modders

And people wont be even angry that its canceled because its not a suprise.....its predictable...
this type of meet shouldnt be weekly anyways..lol its more like atleast once every 3 months or something..
I enjoyed going last night seeing so many beautiful cars and the whole scene is like from a movie.....but it was a bad decision about the place they chose....they didnt think about the outcome........it was a long wait and for a grand opening...well they shouldve thought where theyre gonna put the thousands of cars arriving

Until ertefa can find their own personal paid spot in a massive lot I don't think they will ever be longer than a week anymore. Wonderland is the only lot I can think of to handle it with one driveway in and out for the meet but ceder fair will never allow it unless I'd assume ertefa offered a large sum of money. Only thing I can think of is they rent a lot north somewhere once a month and do it up there where they won't bother anyone... Ertefa makes money but I'm pretty sure they don't seem to want to spend any of it to get a legit spot... I could be wrong of course
vaughan mills after 10pm would be perfect. enclosed loop people could use to drive around to find a spot, enter/exit, whatever. Wouldn't disrupt any local traffic and all businesses shut down in the mall at 9. I'm sure they've already inquired once before about it, but with enough money I can't see it being an issue.
also would completely eliminate the whole "main lot" thing. the lot at VM is massive, not a chance they fill it to capacity

I like this idea. Do it like cscs events. Show and shine for 10 bucks and track guys pay extra. Give them a stretch to blow thr cars up!!
Moving it to a track an hour and a half away completely defeats the purpose, and it's already done every month. The point was to have a weekly meet people could drop into whenever they wanted, free of charge. Think if they want to keep it going they'll have to drop some cash on a better location

Defeats the purpose of what. Having a place that will allow you to actually be there and rev if you want all and the other show boating that is done by losers who cant just go enjoy the meet and ruin it for the rest? Not to mention yes as far as it is people may not go. But it is what it is if you want to go to a huge car meet. Problem is. Ertefa cant manage the people so they are the ones that get screwed. Hell i passed the meet stoped at the little ceasers. Some guy in a drag car with slicks taller then my bike and what were 3 ton4 feet wide asked me where the meet was. The guy couldn't even turn his car off to ask me. Let alone be on the road.that is what the issue is. I love the meets but dont need thst bs in my backyard.combine people who smoke pot and drink and you are in for some not good times.
The other. Problem is ertefa get permission to park at X parking lot so they need to mae sure it is cleaned and looked after. So when they leave they can come back. But the meet is so big it spills into lots y.z.a.bcdefghijk and they are not welcome there and now they are blocking shoppers in and outnof buildings. Employees access to leave and there own cars. Thats why they need to get anlot away from the companies and have this meet. It doesnt need to be a weekly thing. And im suren would be juat as big if not bigger if it happend less often. The Mclaughlin and bovaird tims and.leons would be perfect if you ask me. Two huge lots. A tims and wendys who will love the business and some smaller stuff on the other side of the road for those that wanted to park away from it. The only issue I could see with that is the Honda dealer not being super happy otherwise i would think if cleaned up after leons and ctc would be ok
It defeats the purpose of the meet because what you described is CSCS in a nutshell, minus the credibility it already has. Who would go to ertefa instead of cscs if they were the exact same? They just need to be willing to spend some money on a decent location I think, one where it's easier to monitor who comes in and out. As far as the revs / burnouts go the only thing to do would be to take down their plates and call the cops, or just let them do their thing. Ertefa has a good idea for a unique meet, they just need the money / means to execute it

Well they seem cheap and dont want to pay fot shit. Still mnb crappy tire snd leons in brampton is the perfect example of the size they need placement and how you need to ask two companies to say yes and your down.
Why take doen plates.. all you need to do is gone on instagram search #ertefa and send tickets to those doing something they shouldn't. So many people with there plates on there.. not behaving 😃 anyway.
Does anyone have a contact at ertefa?

In Ertefa's defence (first time for everything) venue's are [I]very/I] expensive.

It was doomed in Heartland from the start. The amount of petitions to CT Management from locals to not host the event (even before Thursday) had this set up for failure.
As mentioned, I like the event... just not in Heartland.
Powerade Centre? Hersey Centre?
direct energy centre maybe? lol the place is always a ghost town except on weekends. could you imagine a weekly meet in there??

Car meets would never be allowed. Gets too unruly for the premises especially when a place like Direct Energy is rented out for various events each week. Need to keep the place clean/pristine and avoid any bad publicity. Imagine being in the news as the place where a driver gets killed for showboating? Add the costs of additional security and its never going to happen.
Until people mature or learn how to behave, no location such as Wonderland, Direct Energy Place, etc would ever have a car meet. People want Ertefa to pay for a place but those that go would never pay to attend. Too many people want Ertefa to fail. They have become victims of their own success.
I've said it before...
It's the revving and burnouts etc that's awesome at big meets like this
Unfortunately the police don't agree and they ruin it
Anyway luckily for me I grew up with a different car scene where anything goes and it was a hell of alot of fun
Who wants to see high horsepower cars parked doing nothing? Go visit a dealership then lol
Anyway nothing can be done about it here up in Canada

yeah it was more just a comedic suggestion than anything else, but it would be pretty awesome I must say :P still think vaughan mills is doable

Direct Energy Centre would be a waste of time. The road infrastructure would prohibit that volume of traffic.
Not to mention that it's far out of the way and only served by the Gardiner Expressway... How many 'stanced' cars would want to drive on that?
Powerade Centre is a waste of time: obstructing local facility sporting events for a car meet, and it's too small. Premises accessible only by an absolutely pathetic two-lane Kennedy Road.
You guys really looking forward to driving through Brampton? Didn't think so...
Vaughan Mills might work after midnight. But it's still a commercial property. I wouldn't want 5 thousand juveniles hopping around and deferring potential local business.
The only realistic venues are either a closed off airport, or the International Centre where ample parking and no obstruction to local business are key.
Well Vaughan mills is definitely out, got in touch with them myself and they said **** no lol. As for the gardiner, I drive it often, it's not so bad really

Most of us who run low (or ran in my case) will actually drive anywhere, just have to be a little more cautious.

They're pulling the plates on both cars! It's kind of funny 4 cops trying to figure out what tool to use to pull plates like for 5 minutes

It was a gen1 speed3. After the cops left the car stayed waiting for the tow truck that showed up 20 minutes later. Anyways when the cops left the owner of the vehicle kept looking at his front wheel wells.....
