Recently purchased a wifi connector from Amazon and I had the chance to plug it In and give it a go today.

Everything was going great, driving around getting readings. Then I decided to switch apps so I can play some music via bluetooth and have dash command running. As soon as I swapped back to dash command, the car started to go berserk. The screen/lights all flickered, and the gauges spun all the way up. The slip warning (the car with the swerve lines) light came on and stayed on.

I pulled over, shut the car off and waited a few minutes. I turned the car on and the warning light turned off.

Kind of feels like the speedometer is outta whack now but I don't really know. I hope I didn't screw up the car or the ECU or anything. The car does feel weird now but that could just be placebo because of this incident.

Don't really even know if dash command or the OBD connector is to blame.

Anyone else have this issue or similar issues?

Should I go to the dealer and get the ECU checked out?

I ran a diagnostics via dash command a few minutes after and and two codes came back both the same (U04). Not sure if they are related to this at all.

Tried to recreate the circumstances on the way home this evening.

It seems that as you move away from the dash command app, then come back into it it does this.

This time the car almost completely shut off on me. Everything flickered and same deal. The car came back on, on it's own.

Anything to stress out about?

Btw, deleting this app and getting rid of the OBD connector. Can't have this kind of thing happening accidentally.

could always get a bluetooth OBD2 connector so you can have both simultaneously

Bluetooth connector won't work with an iPhone.

I won't be using any of these devices anymore anyways. This thing made my car shut down while driving twice last night. Totally unsafe not mention who knows what kind of damage if any has been done to the car.

This is upsetting to hear. I was literally about to buy this.
Was going to use it with an old IPhone as a boost gauge.

Has anyone else used this?
Did they get similar or different results?
I hope Anthony's experience is not typical.

This was scary.

I won't be using any device like this again.

I'm sure there are really reliable pieces of hardware + software out there and they may be an isolated incident. But just be weary.

I paid $60 for that OBD reader on amazon so it's not like I cheaped out entirely on getting a decent product.

I've had my bluetooth blue one from Amazon for $15 for almost a year now, never had an issue. I also bought a few for family and friends without issues. So maybe it's the brand you got or you just got a bad one. I'd contact them for a refund or exchange

You can try this one: http://www.amazon.ca/Wireless-Diagnostic-Scanner-Adapter-iPhone4S/dp/B00DYOVXZ0/

It was recommended by Dash.

Then install this on your iPhone (iOS 7 or later): http://dash.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7e7cd552e39c245ec0994cba3&id=0896fc2d5e&e=803206ac07
