I went into FX Auto in Oshawa on the weekend and got my car tinted. I went in there and asked for 20% but they said they don\'t stock it. So I went with the next best which was 15%. I got it all the way around the car including the 6\" sunband on the front. It looks sweet and they did a great job. I will have pics soon and then will post. If your car isn\'t tinted let me tell you that it definitely adds a touch of pinash :p.
If you guys are interested in the details about FX Auto in Oshawa then let me know. I ended up getting the whole car tinted for about $225 and that includes the metal alloy in the film to help reflect the sun off the vehicle. On hot days the interior of my car would get really hot. It\'s nice and hot today and I went and checked it out and it\'s not hot at all. How sweet is that?:)

15% all way around? Geez... watch for the coppers... They will pull you over for having such a dark tint in the front windows.

there\'s no guarantee they will pull you over. you may get pulled over but it all depends.
i have friends who have 15% and 18% tint all around with rims and bodykits on black cars and none of them have been pulled over for their tint, let alone pulled over at all.
if you do get pulled over at night, wind down ALL the windows. this will help put the cop at ease as he approaches your car.

nice choice on the tints Snipes...the car definitely looks good with the same % tint all around and the darker the better. ;)

Thanks Majestic. I definitley like the conformity throughout. I didn\'t want to have a 2 shade so 15% it was. The guy at the store told me when driving by the cop just roll down the window a little to let light in the cabin and then it won\'t appear as dark. At night, turn on the dome light and that will help as well. I have no fears on this one. Pics to be posted soon once I get my hands on a digital camera.

Snipes, do post some pics soon. With regards to Cops pulling you over, it all depends on what they feel is legal or not.

I am planning to tint my windows also on my Mazda 3 hatch. Will most likely head back to FX Auto since it was a pleasure dealing with Wayne the first time around when I got my clear bra done.
The only thing I am unsure about is the % I want to get. I guess there are a few options but I think going with a uniform % throughout the 5 windows is best. I\'m thinking 20% all around. I\'ve seen Dr. Butcher\'s car with 22% all around and I like it.
I\'m not really worried about getting pulled over for 20%, but I might consider making the front windows 30% or so.
Any opinions on what the % tint I should get?
Also, do they have to remote the rear spoiler to apply the tint? Some dudes at M3F has to have their rear spoiler removed on their Sport GT. I definately want to avoid this.

I had my MZ3 sport done at FX, and they didnt need to remove it. :)

Good to know. What % tint did you get? And how long does it take?

Got my 38% Comfort tint from them. Awesome quality and it\'s lifetime warranty PLUS these guys have been around for a LONG time (IIRC 15 yrs).

Got my tints about 3 weeks ago, I am very happy with how it looks, Wayne at FXAuto was great, very friendly, patient, explaining everything. I definitely recommend FX Auto in Markham.

Quick question for you guys that got tints at FX Auto. Are the tints on the windows \"borderless\"? At the very top of the window, does the film go right to the edge?
Mine has the obvious gap between tint edge and actual window edge. Doesn\'t bother me personally.
you can\'t see the gap when the window\'s closed

I think there would be a gap a the top edge cause when you close windows, paper might be peeled off, but I never check mine:D

A gap is visible when you open the window, but when it is closed the gap disappears into a channel in the window guide.

Is this normal? The little border? Anyone want to take a picture of their tints and show how the border is? I believe Fat Mike had tints done that were borderless.
The border doesn\'t bug me but I\'m just curious how certain places can do borderless tints while others don\'t/can\'t.

I\'ve a thin border on the window edge. I think that\'s fairly normal on aftermarket tints.

I don\'t have a border, and it looks waaay better. One of the cars I had in the past had the border (all others had no border) and I hated it if my window wasn\'t all the way down. A lot of shops have the border because it\'s a quicker install.

I\'m wondering the samething. I\'m going to do tints in about 2-3 weeks at FX Auto, since I\'m waiting for a buddy of mine with a Black GFX Sedan to go together.

there is a small boarder, but with the window closed, you can\'t notice.
My biggest gap cannot be larger than 0.5 cm (50 mm)

Could someone who got their tints done at FX Auto take a pic of the border? I am interested to see how big the gap is before I get mine done there.
Thanks.

I had my tint done through my dealer, where they have a contracted guy come in to do it. They praised him that he was excellent....and he did a great job! I\'m not sure of the % of tint around, because I was never told, but it\'s dark enough to suit me. Xenon was looking at it and I think we figured it was 20% front, 15% on back windows and hatch. Something like that.
I have a small border around mine too, but its very clean and well done. It\'s no more than .25cm...very small and not noticeable unless you look right at it. Its gone when you open the window all the way or close it all the way.
I like it better with the border, because I know that it is sealed at the edges and I don\'t have to worry about it catching around the seal.
On my Z24, I had it tinted at Tint King in Oshawa. I found that the tint wasn\'t as well done. The edges weren\'t as nice, the back window didn\'t seal all the way over the top and I had some some small areas that were coming off. I also noticed that on my passenger window that after awhile of up and down, the edge of the tint had started to come loose. Not exactly a great job..but I was getting rid of the car, so I didn\'t care.

Ok. Just called FX Auto, talked to Wayne about getting tints this Saturday but they are closed for Thanksgiving so I\'m on for Saturday Oct 16th.
Talked to him about the \"gap\" at the edge of the glass and this was his response:
The gap is there so that the film doesn\'t take the blunt force when you roll up your windows completely. After 2 years, there will be cracking and peeling because the film is absorbing all the roll up force. The borderless tints are offered but there is no warranty on the tint job.
Hope that clears things up for everyone.
Obviously I will take the small gap since it comes with full warranty.
Got 30%-35% Front and 20% Rear with Premier Film Tint in mind.

Finally got my windows tinted at FX Auto this morning. Went with 35% Front/20% Rear with Premier Film. Looks great, I am happy with the result. While I was there, they inspected my LLumar Clear Bra for me without asking which was great.
