Hey all,
Looks like I need new front rotors and pads as well as rear shocks (according to the dealership)
From what I understand, the stock rotors and pads are pretty good.
Any advice on an upgrade on the brakes and suspension.
I'm putting this out there because of the sheer volume of posts on this subject on the forums.
I was thinking of slotted or drilled rotors.....

OEM...all the way. The OEM brakes are excellent.

If its for DD the OEM brakes are great albeit the pads are quite expensive...as for the suspension see if you are open to aftermarket shocks. Many offer stock like ride quality and offer lifetime warranty.

Stick with OEM pads and shocks even they are as expensive as aftermarket.
Shocks, I got Koni Yellow. I'm happy with it.

Hey all,
Forgot to mention its for a Speed3.
I'm looking on Tire rack right now for options on tires / brakes / shocks.
Dealership quoted $2500 incl parts/labor.
Tire Rack is about $1400 shipped, taxes in. Koni Yellow rear shocks. Hawk HPS pads and Quiet Slot Rotors, Firestone fire hawk Wide oval Indy 500 rubber.
Shipped to Engineered Automotive in Concord.
I'm open to comments....

How about getting a second opinion before you spend all that money? Bring it to a trusted mechanic.

Front OEM rotors - ~$170 w/discount
Stoptech Posi-quiet front pads + Koni Yellow Rears - $339.91 USD w/shipping
Approx. $540 CAD
You can get more aggressive pads if you wish for $20-$30 more. Lets say a good set of tires run you $1000. The total comes to about $1540. Brake and suspension install shouldn't be too expensive at an independent mechanic.
$2500 seems a little too steep for me, even if you count in the stock $200 brake pads.

I have heard bad things about hawks, I heard the brake dust is pretty bad and there is no "bite" when braking

Essex distributors in BC sell billsteins, check their website, but the rear shocks are roughly 180/piece. The fronts are $330/piece. Only $5/shock to ship Canada wide. You may want to consider that, they are authorized resellers.
As for brakes, the lat time I bought oem through a dealer they were about $400 all in with my discount. I did my own instal
Tires, don't know much because I get them from work at cost lol

I agree with brake dust. They bite good once warmed up. I switched to stoptech and they are way better.

Not to hijack the thread but I will be servicing brake pads soon.
I was thinking to get my OEM upgraded to Brembo Calipers and rotors as I hit the track.
Would you guys "approve" this idea? LOL

Are you going straight from stock pads/rotors/fluid to BBK?

Dumb idea if you've never been to the track. Your brakes are good enough. Save your money for more seat time and better tires.

Yes, Stock brakes are good enough for occasion track days.
I'm on my stock set up now and they aren't cheap neither, lol.

As I wrapped the front rotor as often as about a set each year... After my third set of OEM rotors, I now changed to drilled rotor. An unknown brand to me that made in Italy. My independent technician found it for me. So far so good, and I can see the much better stop power (although there say drilled or other type rotor will not help much in shorten the stop distance. But looks it really did.)
Ang the guy also bought a set of brembo for my friend at pomotion that only a little bit expensive than OEM for 10 or 20 bucks.... So its ur choice...

Warp.... Reddie...u r the one knows me...
Sorry guys, I dont have a .big screen cellphone to use Tapatop here... Hoho ...
Nice idea... Wrap the rotor...lol

The guy told me warping the rotors usually should not happen as often as I was. and I didn't go to track, and drive not very fast or like to do late brake or brake in sudden... So I doubt that something wrong with my car... anyway, drilled holes will help in cooling the rotor at least, and that's the first reason I try it.
The second reason is it looks cool too.... lol
(Similar case as my friend, he drives an audi. Each set of rotor for each year... so after out of warranty, he changed to BBK, and hadn't need to take care of the brakes for some years already...)
