519 Meets

Greetings TM3,

I figure it was time to make a dedicated thread for this, since there's similar threads for other meets of this kind, and it allows for a place for all 519-Meets-related discussion to be gathered, rather than being dispersed across a few other threads that weren't meant for that to begin with lol

Anyway, to introduce this a bit, it's a car meet that a few of your TM3 members had started up a few months ago, in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Mitchell3, greyseason, Genpu_Mz3, and myself (@FD22 - just wanted to see if I could actually tag myself) started this up, and had a few meets with great turnouts before taking a little hiatus. However, across the past few weeks, we've partnered with some sponsors, and word has really started to get out for this meet. Its return is marked for this Sunday night, and is certainly not exclusive to any particular cars or only people from the Kitchener-Waterloo area. People will likely be coming from all over. This will be a regularly ocurring meet till Summer is over.

lol there's enough car meets here in the GTA. Hardly anything going on in the car scene in the KW region. So our goal was to change that :)

I passed my job on to somebody else, so I'm not really as involved as before. Plus I haven't been to this site in a number of years but it is a decent size. Seemed like the perfect size at the time, but whom I've passed it on to has blown it up social media wise so I am worried about space too. But he has been working hard at it so maybe he's planned for it. I am not sure what he has organized with Liberty Auto Sports - its right across the street - may have people park there as well. Plus when I was looking into it, you technically can have cars parallel park down the road as well - very low traffic road.

That was awesome. I am pretty sure everyone thought it was a cop. Pretty good idea especially with past meets with stupid idiots trying to look awesome burning out their tires. Then again I did have the stereo going but didn't get asked to turn it down haha.

We host them at Sunrise Shopping Centre in Kitchener - 1400 Ottawa St. S. (Corner of Ottawa St. and Fischer-Hallman Rd.)
Usually have a good turnout from the TM3 community, even with just the Tri-city locals. So if you're not from around here chances are you'll still see some friendly faces!

Next 519 Meet is June 12th! Sunday 7-9 as always!

Also FYI: I'm planning something to either be the things 519 Meets can't be and/or to be the successor. 519 Meets' size makes it too risky and difficult to do things other than a massive meet. Plus with it growing bigger it may be only a matter of time before its too big to control the nincompoops that we cant host it in its current fashion. Being so big it can be hard/intimidating to meet new people too!

Therefore, I'm considering creating an invite only FB group of those I know have displayed they don't do stupid stuff at car meets! That way we keep the bad apples out that ruin them. Plus, this way we can do more things like cruises, photoshoots, etc. Basically the types of things I've put on for the locals here on TM3 in previous years. Now that I don't have a 3 it makes less sense for me to put host them on TM3. So I think I'd use this group instead then. If you're interested in some more local events shoot me a message with your name and I can add you to it. I have a bunch of people on the 519 pages I feel safe with inviting into this as well. So it could be a sizeable crew when said and done!

Id personally be way more interested in what you're thinking of. Small meets of mature locals is way more appealing to me than a giant meet like 519.

+1. Not much else to say on it

519 Meets had a good run last year with minimal issues. One meet in this year and people lost their minds apparently. I figured I'd see how the next one goes. I got into hosting these big meets cause it was fun, and nothing like this really existed down here. Its awesome when it works seeing hundreds of cars come out. But its no fun at all for me when cars are burning out, etc.. Its just stressful then and I don't want to spend my Sunday evenings babysitting..

A smaller meet where there's no stress in hosting them is sounding way more appealing now. Plus its way more versatile in what we can do, not just a one trick pony.

My favourite meets are ones with 10 or so cars and everyone is chlling out relaxing and talking. I don't want a meet to feel like a car show. I want a bunch of enthusiasts who know their shit shooting the breeze.
