So I have an etest coming up and a code popped up the other day.

They have been off and on for the last while but mostly off.

So I pulled them today and got these.

I'm not overly concerned about the p2187 as I'm pretty sure that's my SRI.

The p0138. I assume I need a new o2 sensor. But which is back 1.

The p0126 confuses me though. Is it just the thermostat?

Any help on my course of action is appreciated.

And of course this all needs to be done before Wednesday. Yes I procrastinated.

Thanks.

if u had mazdaedit, u could just turn off the codes for the etest and fix them later. but the last code might be a worn out thermostat sensor.

Damn. How much that cost me? May be worth it.

The P0126 is definitely the thermostat and/or temperature sensor...Had the same code, changed out the stat, it went away.

The P0138, pretty sure that's the sensor after the cat.

The P2187, check your connections.

Also you can clear the codes with that unit you have there I believe.

That Flagrum_3. I have cleared the codes. Sometimes they stay off for a few weeks. Sometimes they come right back.

With the etest coming up. I'm just hoping I get ready codes.

The day of your etest, run the car to temp and connect the reader just before you go in. Check for n clear any codes...Hopefully it clears them completely. But get that thermostat replaced. :)

When you reset it comes up not ready. Which is a fail.

So it hasn't been showing 'Codes cleared' previously?

peterm15

Ya. It shows the same codes. But if you do it before an etest then you have to wait for your car to cycle through.

You'll need sensor 2. Bank doesn't matter in an inline engine. First code is probably the intake. And I would definitely say thermostat first. Easy to change. Comes as whole black housing.

Just did an e-test at my brother in laws shop on my older vehicle. The new system wont even run the test until the car has been driven for about a weekafter clearing the codes. The system is pretty chewt-proof right now. Drive Clean can actually watch the test through cameras now to make sure you didnt switch the car before the test.

Not true for waiting a week. When I fixed the problems for my codes and reset them to clear it I went for my e test the next day and passed.

You only need to cycle. About 100km mixed city and highway.

May as well update.

Cleared my codes sat. Passed my etest yesterday.

Kind of silly that the new tests can be fooled so easily.

I stand corrected. I think my brother in law meant about a weeks worth of driving if you only did in-city driving (to and from work). But yeah, I guess you could bomb around highway for a hour or two if you were desperate to get the test done that day.

peterm15 I think I actually have a spare thermostat AND temp sensor kicking around. I'll look this weekend when I'm home.

I'm told I also need to update the system before changing the thermostat and sensor. Is that really necessary?? My main concern is getting the thermostat and sensor replaced so I can pass my etest..

no, if you're getting the code for the thermostat, change it, go for a little boot and get your test done.

I replaced my thermostat in March, and now all the sudden the check engine is back :( . Do the people at partsource still pull codes for free?
