So today.. Sept 11th was FINALLY the pick up date for my Black Mica GT. Get to the dealership with my certified cheque in hand. All the paper work is ready to go.. car is waiting. Now the low blow; the finance lady comes over and asks me for some BANK STATEMENTS as PROOF that *I* saved up $8000 for the downpayment. They want me to show them upto 3 months of my BANKING RECORDS. uhhhhhh wtf http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/sauer/angry-smiley-053.gif (Isnt that invasion of privacy??) You can imagine my reaction... who would want a stranger looking through their bank books?? I brought them a letter from my work showing proof of employment and how much I earn as well as my pay stubs. Her explanation to me was BECAUSE they want to see that I am \"COMMITTED\" to making my car payments. This is my second car already and Ive had a loan on my Golf and never had to deal with ish like that. The downpayment is in my name but my mother gave me the $$$ because I *SOLD* her the Golf. Finance lady tells me they CANNOT release me the car because they will have get it approved by their finance manager who doesnt work on the weekends. As well she tells me this is \'normal\' (if you want to call it that) procedure and that everyone has to do it. :sarc Okay.. pardon my French but GIVE ME A ****IN BREAK. http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/sauer/angry-smiley-030.gif My brother just bought a brand spankin new RSX which was alot more expensive than my 3. All he had was the downpayment (which was ALOT less than mine) and *NO* problems.

The funny thing in all of this is that I probably make more money than the jerkos who are selling the car. :p Do I look like Im some 17 year old girl who works at Stiches part time for 7$ an hour. Puhlease. Overall this whole experience was less than satisfactory. Not impressed by Mazda at all. (And I thought VW was bad haha).

So Im really curious if anyone had to deal with the same bullshit that Im going through with this \'financing\' crap?? The more I think about it the more INSULTED I am at the fact.

........ and when I was leaving (empty handed) I took a peek at my car and found a nice dent on the wheel well http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/traurig/sad-smiley-028.gif I told my salesman he says I inspected the car already. Whatever like you cant notice a DENT on the edge of a wheel well on a black car on a sunny day. To that I say.... BULLSHIT.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/sauer/angry-smiley-008.gif I am ready to go back for my money. I am SOOO FED up right now. If I decide to go with it they better throw in some all season floor mats or that spoiler. Bastids

Sorry to hear, MK... which dealership is this? Weren\'t they all nice to you for going to them instead of your original dealership? Sorry if I\'ve gotten you confused with another member here with purchasing problems.

Yes, all of that which happened to you is run-around BS. It is NOT standard procedure to look at personal bank statements or record of employment, that is what the credit check is for from the financial institution that will handle your financing!

****... who\'s up for a get together? Let\'s all go meet up with MK one of these coming days and the gang of us walk into her dealership and straighten the sh*t out before it hits the fan.

I\'d definitely call Mazda Canada and complain to them regarding that dealerhip and their unnecessary work procedures.

Did you deposit any money with them?

My dealership didn\'t try to pull any fast ones until AFTER I picked up my car. They tried bending me over for some broken part on my trade-in over a month after I took delivery of my 3;

How young do you usually get told you look? Young as in late teens? I have a feeling these jack arse dealerships target the young ones to try and squeeze money out of us and give us the run around.

And definitely don\'t take that dent! Find out how much a dent like that costs and get something back in that amount! PDI my arse.

that dent is nasty on a BRAND NEW car that hasn\'t even been sold yet. it\'s at least $100, if not more, at a dent removal place such as \"Dent Doctor\".

i wouldn\'t sign the papers on that car unless the dealership fixed that. if they refuse, ask for any initial deposit back and then walk away.

as for the statement of proof of \"savings\", as to see the letter from the bank or finance company requesting such. if there\'s no letter, find out the contact info at the bank/finance company and speak to them directly. this sounds like a crock of shit to me.

the dealership is giving you the runaround...if you do decide to still take the car from them, write a letter to Mazda Canada outlining the bullshit the dealership put you through, the fact that you\'re displeased with their sales/finance staff, pictures of the dent, a link to this thread and any other mazda-related forums it may be posted in AND send a copy to the dealership.

no need to show her any bank statement, and yes, I think it is privacy law. Just go to you main branch and ask for a letter, bank will give you one to the dealership. If she insist to have the bank statement, tell her you will have a lawyer to deal with her.

Yes that was me. I guess everyone will try to be your friend at the time of sale :sarc

Calling Mazda Canada first thing Monday morning. And I did leave my $8000 downpayment with them and the original deposit was only $200.

Im 23 but people always think Im younger than that. But that should be irrelvant. Im some 17 year old walking in with $30,000 CASH or a 67 year old who is putting 0 down. A customer is a customer is a customer.
Regarding the dent they WILL fix it though. (But Im letting Mazda Canada know they tried to sell me a BRAND NEW car with some flaws)

Once you\'ve purchased your car, you should get a questionnaire from Mazda Canada about your experience dealing with the dealership where you bought your car. Make sure you let them know what happened. I\'d rip the dealership in the questionnaire, then attach a personal letter stating what you went through when you went to pick up your car.

About the dent, don\'t take the car until it\'s fixed. Then tell them that since it\'s damaged merchandise, see if they\'ll do something extra for you, free oil changes or something. I can\'t believe they\'d try and slip that by a customer....
