2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv Dash Illumination

I had my car in to replace a transmission mount, and when I got the car back, the stereo presets were reset. The drivers auto power window also was not working (easy to fix). But I noticed that the dash illumination did not seem the same.

The dash is illuminated even when the headlight switch is set to OFF. In daytime modes, the dimmer does not allow you to get full brightness on the dash illumination either. It seems different than before. Is there a way to change this behavior?

Have you pushed the illumination dial in? You might be stuck with it full on, or full off.

Pushing the illumination dial does not do anything when the headlights are set to off. But, the dash illumination is always on when the headlights are set to off. Is this normal? It seems different than before the servicing.

The dash is supposed to stay illuminated, because if it's off, it isn't all that easy to see. If you turn the headlights on, and press the illumination dial, you'll see it go dim and bright. Bright is the daytime setting.
