View Full Version : SKYACTIVE HEADERS!!

Received this from someone today, we'd been talking about finding a company to do a set of headers for the skyactiv's and he finally got a response from one of the companies. If you're interested in a set of headers for your Skyactiv, read on. This is ONLY for skyactiv owners.

CALLING INTERESTED '12 and '13 MZ3 SKYACTIV OWNERS
I have emailed MSDS and gotten a response from the President of the company. He is willing to do a limited production run if we can meet the requirements. Note, this header will be ceramic coated, be the header and flex downpipe, and WILL NOT have a CAT on it, so those that require for smog test will not pass.
Here is what we need:
1. 25 person minimum commitment. No money needed until production of the headers.
2. Someone local (Glendale, CA) or willing to travel to MSDS and be the donor car for them to design and prototype the headers.
Design, Prototype, and Production will take 3-4 weeks from start to finish.
Pricing will be the same/similar to the current MSDS gen-2 Mazda3 header kit.
Please PM your name if you are willing, and sure you want to do this. I will update regularly from names here and on forums. If you message me in one place, please don't message me in another place so that I can keep names straight!

If you are interested, don't pm me, my inbox is full. Just start a list here and I will update the person who is organizing this.

Mods, can you keep this post updated with the full list of names please?

25+ might be pretty difficult especially considering the no cat installed but good luck. Pretty cool of MSDS to offer this.

Will keep the names organized for you

This would be totally awesome. But no cat... :(

Just get a tune to get rid of the CEL you will throw and don't worry about the CAT.

Thanks! Yeah, the no cat part might make it a tougher sell, but people should be aware that this has been posted on many mazda forums and facebook groups. So don't let the 25 people requirement phase you, should be relatively easy to hit that number. So if you're interested sign up!

Yeah, or you could have one added when you install it

Add a high flow cat to your mid pipe and you won't have a problem. I'm running Catless headers, High flow cat and corksport cat back exhaust and I pass the test.

Perfect for me, don't need an etest anyways.

Would they actually need a car? Or just a manifold, I probably have one of those laying around.

To build the prototype they do. They need to take measurements and readings, do diagnostics and all that fun stuff

With Girds parting out you may want to confirm of he's still interested, but I highly doubt it

And he is still on that list twice as #8 and #12

Well maybe if girds listened to the instructions and only added his name on one site he wouldn't be on there twice. :P

So kindly edit my post and remove him please and thanks

UPDATE

Hi Ben,

We were looking at continuing our style of the 4 into 1, as this is what our customers prefer. The tri-y will be no problem for your group, however it is more labor+material intensive.
This will cause the price to be adjusted accordingly, but the final price will be discounted to your group , with your Group Purchase price.
When your donor vehicle person contacts us, please have him provide a factory exhaust manifold gasket ( for the skyactive) to us.

Thank you,
Marty

** DEVELOPMENT STARTED **
GROUP LIST NOW CLOSED

Donor car has gone into MSDS. And development started sometime this week.

We had the pleasure of meeting Mauricio and his Skyactive M3.We took a good look at the oe items, made notes, and have sketched up a design.
The tri-y is approx. 24" in length, incorporates a flex pipe just before the end of the collector flange.
In April we will direct the donor to our mechanical facility, where the car will be prototyped with the new MSDS tri-y header.
So we are on the road with the new product...more news as we are in development.

Thank you,
Marty
