Hi everyone!
I'm new here. I just bought a 2004 Mazda 3 GT, Sedan.. the seller only had ONE key to open/start the car.. I had no keyless entry fob or any other key. I would like to get the keyless entry fob and 2 more spare keys.. I called mazda of brampton and the man is charging me over $300 to get a keyless entry fob, regular key and installation and programming.. I was wondering if there are other CHEAPER options without going to the dealership???
Please let me know!
Thanks!
Kat

With only one key, you need to go to a dealership to have the programming done. That said, you may be able to get better pricing from one of our affiliate dealerships.

When I got my 2004 I only had one key and one fob.
You can buy spare keys/fobs on ebay for cheap, just be sure you're getting the right ones. I seem to recall ~<$10/ea. I bought two keys and one extra fob. I then got the keys cut at canadian tire for like 1$.
Then I went to a dealership and they programmed the key for ~$80
Then once you have two programmed keys, there is an easy set of instructions to program the third key YOURSELF for free. Basically an extra 10$ ensures you never have to pay the dealership again in case you lose a key and want to have a backup again.
I think you need to have one working fob in order to program additional fobs. Since I had one already, I programmed my backup for free. In your case, you will probably have to pay, hopefully the ~$80 covers it.
Good luck

Google ensunlocks and call this guy, he is well recommended on rfd. $40 cash to cut/program the key. I am not sure how much will he charge you for the actual key blank - I got mine from eBay (and it was ~US$50 for excellent condition Gen2 fob/transponder key). Gen1 is probably cheaper, but you need to know what to order.

Mke sure it actually has remote keless entry before you go buy a fob.

Just went and double checked, I bought my key from dealextreme.com for 9USD a few years ago. Ebay should have them at similar prices.
