Hi guys,
Just had my stereo installed at Lockdown. Great bunch of guys to deal with. Jeff is amazing and his installer Sam did a great job. Very neat and careful with your car.
I would recommend this place to any body who need an alarm or a stereo.
They are located at 191 Nugget Avenue, Unit #2 in Scarborough.
Jeff\'s cell number is (416) 919-1538 and there business number is (647) 435-5896.

I had my alarm installed through Lockdown, he is on a lot of other forums and has some good prices on alarm installation. I would recommend his services as well, he knows what he is doing, and he does it well.

Thanks for the info, especially for a good place in east end. I was thinking about getting an alarm installed a bit down the road. Which systems do they use?

They carry all types of Viper alarms, but they mainly do Compustar alarms.
Good prices also.

Jeff,
which alarm system would you recommend? Which do you sell the most of? What are the benefits and shortcomings of the systems you sell? I did a bit od research of the Compustar systems and opinions varied pretty wildly.... The guys here that have the GT trim models have factory alarms, so I\'m not sure how many would look to upgrade. Us Lowly GS and GX trim guys would probably have more interest. :)

I highly recommenf Jeff too, he installed a CompuStar in my 3 (actually the first 3 he ever worked on). Go see him guys, you won\'t regret it!
I\'ve been introduced to the \"Echo\" two-way alarm by a friend who\'s been looking into it for his Prelude. Not sure if you\'d know which one that is, Jeff? I\'d be interested to invest in an alarm, especially with my two aftermarket parts on order. :D

I would also like to know if the GT alarm can be replaced with a compustar? Two way paging, how cool is that! I dont know how good the GT\'s factory alarm is but I would always prefer an aftermarket alarm system.

Hello Everyone
Again, thanks you very much to everyone who has provided a positive review of LOCKDOWN Enterprises Inc.
Adding a Compustar security system to the Mazda 3 GT equipped with the factory security system is no problem at all, in fact when this installation is performed you\'ll have not only the Compustar ( or equivilent security system ) protecting your car, you\'ll have the added protection of the factory alarm as well. On the Mazda3 the factory alarm is INTEGRATED into the installation, not ELIMINATED, which means you will have 2 security systems protecting the vehicle.
In terms of the quality of the Compustar product, my opinion is biased because I retail the product, but I can honestly say that the product does what it is advertised to do, and quality is a non issue. I am a firm believer in offering my customers only the most reliable product for their vehicle because the last thing I want is an un-happy client with a security system that does not work. My only issue with Compustar has been with their SS ( Spread Spectrum ) products. I have found that this line of products for some reason experiences interference issues and does not work as advertised, so for that reason I do not offer it to my clients. The AM/FM/FM900 models of Compustar product works flawlessly and does exactly what it is promised to do.
To address the \" ECHO \" line of products, I have had some experience installing this product, and without getting into bashing the product, I\'d like to say that I was not impressed with how it performed or with the documentation that was included with the product. The owners manual and installation manual in my opinion was not nearly specific enough and detailed enough to cover all the uses of the product, add to that the fact the priceing of this product is higher than the Compustar product, and I will have to give it a thumbs down.
Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have regarding any electrical accessories/security products for your vehicle, and always remember to do your research when looking to purchase a product like a security system for your car. I look forward to hearing from everyone.

I stopped by a few minutes ago and waited as a big black pickup was squeezed into the shop. It\'s a tiny place, I think my bedroom is bigger. :) It did look clean but I stood in the doorway for about 5 minutes without so much as a hello from any of the guys milling around the truck. I didn\'t have too much time so I had to split before anyone acknowledged I was there.
I\'d suggest calling ahead so Jeff knows you\'re coming. It\'s too bad I didn\'t get a chance to talk to anybody because the Viper and Compustar websites aren\'t all that informative either.

Hey Dr.Butcher
I too was at Lockdowns shop....I think I saw you.....
Jeff was pretty swamped but was able to get all his customers that had appointments completed...
I am 100% sure he did not ignore you and I think the guy by the truck was the owners truck...
As for the size of his shop....he had enuf room in there to fit that HUGE Pickup and if you came in...you would have seen my car parked in there as well....
I HIGHLY reccomend Lockdown as he knows his stuff....
He is professional in what he does...
I have been going to him for over a year now and I can say that it is worth the drive from Mississauga to get things done from for my ride...
I trust his work....and the prices in UNBEATABLE.
But...I would suggest calling and booking an appointment....and if you are just popping by to speak to him...by all means...just walk right in and introduce yourself....
Anyways...Lockdown All the Way!

Yeah, I had a bad afternoon yesterday so my post sounds kind of negative. I had a few things to do at the shop before 5 so I really didn\'t give anyone a chance to talk to me anyway. I was standing in the doorway behind the truck, somone was being shown what looked like a drop down monitor, a couple of guys jumped in the truck and were checking out the scene there, another couple of guys ran out to check out some huge rims on an SUV parked outside. I mainly went to check the place out, I should have gone when I had more time however. :)
I definitely want to go in and talk to someone, I\'m contemplating an alarm/starter and my g/f wants a starter for her Protege. I just need some tips and suggestions on the different models. I tried to find some info online and other than features, Compustar and Viper\'s websites don\'t have too much to offer....
With all of the compliments Lockdown\'s getting, you guys sure you\'re not on the payroll? ;)

Regarding alarm systems, maybe someone can provide more information about car alarms.
I\'ve seen the two way pager alarms. Are the systems that Lockdown sells/installs similar to these type of alarms? What is the maximum distance that the two way system can transmit?
How much does installation of a system like this cost?
I own a GT, and I might be interested once I find out more information.
Dr Butcher

Red, Here\'s a place to start, it the best I could find up to this point.
http://www.directed.com/security/viper/default.asp Look under \'Responder\'
http://www.compustar.org/products/index.html
These sites give you a bit of info but not a whole lot on the technical side.
I\'m assuming that Jeff doesn\'t sell the 2WSS series but sells the 2WFM and 1WFM series of Compustar systems. The 2WFM has a 2 way pager.
Viper\'s got the 791XV the 690XV and the 591XV depending on if you\'re intersted in a car starter as well as an alarm.

Dr. Butcher, my apologies for not being able to acknowledge you sooner, I noticed you pull up and when you came into the bay I saw you, tried to say something but I don\'t think you heard me. When the two guys came back in the bay I asked them where you had gone and they had said you left. My apologies, but that day was very hectic for me, it seemed as if everyone and their uncle was coming by the shop and requiring service. It\'s usually not that crazy around here!
In terms of the size of the shop, I admit it is quite small but it provides very inexpensive overhead for me which means the savings in rent/various costs can be passed on to my customers. We can effectively fit 2 cars in the shop which I believe is all that is required, and the majourity of times we will only work on one car at a time. I try to interact with all of my customers on a very personal level, everyone who chooses to visit LOCKDOWN is treated like a friend and having a small location assists with that.
The positive feedback from everyone is always very appreciated, and it is something that I truly value, as one of my core business beliefs is to make sure that everyone who I deal with leaves my shop fully satisfied and aware that they are always covered if they need any service or have any questions after any product or service has been purchased.
Saying this, I always suggest that my customers give me a call before dropping by because sometimes it does get pretty busy around here. (647)-435-5896 is the shop line, or feel free to contact me on my cell at (416)-919-1538. If we don\'t answer please leave a message for us and we will call you back as soon as we can.

In regards to some of the questions surrounding the security systems we offer here at LOCKDOWN, one of biggest seller\'s would have to be the two-way systems. We offer two-way security, security/remote start systems from the following manufacturers: Compustar, K-9, Viper/Clifford. These 3 brands are very successful for us and we honestly believe they offer the highest quality, most features, best price, and ease of use to our customers. There are different units for various applications, our recommendation would be for all interested to contact us with their requirements and we can tailor a system to exactly what they need.
Below I\'ve included a picture of the newest Compusta system, the 2WFM900AS unit which is a two-way alarm/remote starter unit with an INCREDIBLE TESTED range of over 5000 feet in the GTA!

yep it comes with an extra remote but it\'s not a two-way remote.

That\'s not true. With the Compustar, if you want to use the remote start and you have MT you have to set the remote starter before you leave the car. In order to do so, the car cannot be in gear and the handbreak has to be up, if not the car stalls and the remote starter is deactivated.

Hello Mazdatree
With a manual transmission vehicle, as long as a manual transmission specific remote start system is used then there should be no problems. With the Compustar system, a sequence must be performed before it will allow you to remote start the vehicle. With this sequence there is no possibility of the car being left in gear. The only requirement in all of this is that your emergency brake be functioning and that you as the user of the system follow\'s the manufacturers directions.

Jeff mentioned to me that he\'s waiting to get approval from TM3 before he starts quoting prices. It\'s a pretty standup thing to do, trying not to step on any toes until he gets the ok from the site administrator. I mentioned he could try and talk to Xenon for starters as TM3 isn\'t around all that much....

Yes it will be better to have Jeff contact Lawrence (AKA Xenon) regarding this issue. As TM3 stated in another thread, he will indeed be away for a short while... again... :)

Yeah, that\'s about right. He\'s got a couple of DVD screens set up in the display room, maybe if you take a DVD in you can watch it while you wait. :) Also, there\'s a Canadian Tire about a 5-10 minute walk from there if you need to kill some time. Hello MazdaTree
Currently the upgrade price to go from the FM Compustar to the NEW FM900 Compustar is $249.99 plus applicable taxes. This price includes the new remote, antenna, and V.2 Main Control Module. Please give me a call at (647)-435-5896 and we can discuss this upgrade in more detail.
In terms of the Eclipse components, we do not post Eclipse pricing on the web due to contract obligations in our buying agreement with the Canadian distributer of this product. Please feel free to call me at the shop and I can give you an exact quote for the speakers you are looking for. Suggested Retail on the SC8362 6.5\" Component Set is $599.99 plus applicable taxes, but we are definitley able to provide a better price.

I had my system installed on Saturday and can\'t speak highly enough of the installers Jeff has working for him. Sam and Mike know their stuff and do a very professional job. I ended up spending the day in the shop because I didn\'t have a ride, and they welcomed me being around while they worked. Once the system was up and running Sam and Mike probably spent 1/2 an hour tuning it, making sure it was set up properly. Great stuff.
Next up I think I need to B-Quiet the front door panels as I\'m losing a lot of sound through the door cavity. Luckily Guinness has 40lbs of it, so I\'ll scam some of his. The quest for good sound never ends. ;)
