Hey,
Wondering if anyone can help me out. I have just bought some LED DRL lights. When the car is running, it does not turn on. But when I turn on the high beam, it turns on. So atm when I am driving normally during the day, I have no lights at the front (hand break is down so that is not the cause). This only happens with these LED lights. My OEM ones work perfectly if reinstalled. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? And does anyone know if it is illegal to drive during the day without any source of light at the front? Please help me!! :( Thanks!!

Without knowing the details of the installation or year/trim, can't help
It is illegal but nobody cares. Thousands of Canadians have been doing it for years with no issues. Just make sure you turn your lights on in fog/rain/snow etc.

You have a 2012 with halogen high beams. I assume you've put LED bulbs in the high beam sockets.
The OEM DRLs function by running a reduced voltage to the high beam bulbs until you put your high beams on, at which point they get 12v and light up fully.
The LEDs won't light up with anything less than about 9v. So the normal DRL voltage won't work.
Solution: either go back to stock bulbs, or get some super white halogen high bulbs, or disable your stock DRLs and run LEDs somewhere else (this is my setup).

If so, a capacitor would do the trick. If not, then use a relay to accomplish what you're going for.

I don't know.
The thing is, personally I don't get the reason for putting LEDs in the high beams. You lose actual high-beam functionality and you have to add extra wiring. Just use colored halogen bulbs instead. Just my opinion.

i was running some yellow halogen bulbs before. but those kept on dying on me like every 6 months... so i thought LEDs would last longer and do the same trick :S lol

The first cheap halogen yellow high beams I installed burnt out within a week. Thanks eBay. Bought another set from NextMod and they've lasted 2.5 years so far.

Haha dude I don't remember what I had for dinner two nights ago. I think I paid $30-40 but I don't remember the brand. I thought it was a bit pricey but damn if they haven't lasted (so far). PM them and they'll set you up.
