We Need Your Help! Crowd Sourcing Project

Yes, I know this is not car related, but I thought TM3 would be a great place to get some help for a research project I'm a part of for school. I posted about it in the Friday thread but things get lost in there quite fast. The more people who participate the better! So help a fellow TM3 member out! :)

As part of a research project, we are asking for people to submit us an avatar you have created which represents you (in which ever way you want to represent yourself) as well as a picture of yourself. You can use a pre-existing avatar you already have (whether from a game or website), choose your own avatar creator, or you can use one of the three links provided below to get you started. There are no other rules other than that, so be creative and have fun with it!

You can submit your images either through email (christina.debartolo@ryerson.ca) or through direct message on TM3.
The deadline to submit is Tuesday, February 10th, 2015.

I'm in a Visual Studies course and right now we are looking at narratives, characters, and things like that. At the same time we are exploring crowd sourcing, where you're able to get feedback from people for something, but in which ever way they interpret it. Our research/project is just going to be based on how people perceive themselves in an online/virtual space. We don't want to explain too much as we want people to just portray themselves in which ever way they feel, sort of their first instinct on a virtual self. Hopefully that sort of answers your question :)


And why do you need a picture of ourselves?
We are using the picture of you to show the person who created the avatar. We are going to use them in a small "icon" type of way. It gives a little bit of visual information on top of the avatar to who the creator is.

If you want a more reliable set of data, you should give something to people if they participate. Tim's card, free chocolate bars, etc...

It really is just a small project to bring in crowd sourcing data. With this project the power of the narrative comes from the range of opinions, perspectives or interpretations that we source. Unfortunately there can always be a biased in the data because you cant make people participate even with some sort of "reward" but still, just different mind sets creating something is really all we need. Everyone thinks a little different, and that is what brings in the "range" of responses. Of course not everyone feels comfortable in participating but i figured this would be a good place i had access to, to gain some participants. :)
