Long overdue review for Alan at AL Professio in Thornhill.
I got rear ended a while ago and was recommended to Alan by Jimmy @ SP to take care of the insurance repair in December 2014. Alan was easy to get in touch with and was very helpful with the process since it was my first time getting an insurance repair done; answered all my questions and was proactive about keeping me updated.
The damage itself was very minor; scuffs/scratches and a dent from the other guy's license plate bolt on the license plate area of my rear bumper. No cracks that I could see.
After the adjuster took a look at my car, Alan offered to arrange a rental for me through a company associated with his shop as an alternative to Discount (which was where my insurance company wanted me to get a rental from). I took Alan up on his offer and to my surprise, he had a brand new (seriously, 5700 km on the clock) 2015 Mazda 3 sedan waiting for me, insurance and everything.
Dropped my car off Monday morning and he said he'd be done either Wed night or Thurs morning, ended up getting a call Wed afternoon that it was ready to pick up. Alan was able to repair/repaint the bumper so no replacement.
As far as the quality of the work, I still haven't really taken a very close look at it because a) it's cold, b) there's always some kind of salt/crud on my rear bumper (because hatchback) and c) when I picked it up and every time I've looked at it since, the bumper looks brand new. No sign of swirls/compounding marks, can't tell where the edge of the blend is, no orange peel or anything weird that I can see and I can't even feel where the dent used to be.
Next time I need any body work/painting done, I'll definitely be giving Alan a call. He was very friendly and professional throughout the process and I appreciated that he kept me in the loop of what was going on, especially since, like I said, I'd never been through the process before.
