Petro Canada on Weber Street in kitchener.

I was going through, but the little arch thing that's supposed to lift up and above you instead stayed put.

This part baffles me a little bit: not only was the paint scuffed/scratched, but the hood of my truck is actually dented.

The manager came out and took a pic, and I filled out some paperwork.... She said she has to call the owner of the gas station to see what to do. So I'm now waiting for a response.

Pictures of the damage and perhaps even my dashcam video will follow...
CloudPump is this something that my insurance would cover?

Arch thing? During the wash cycle or dry cycle?

Hmm.. It's about halfway through. It looks like it's got a little black box on it. I'm assuming it's got a laser or something to determine where your car is inside the car wash.

It's a metal arm hanging down and it's bent in the shape of an arch :p

Something like this would typically be covered by the gas stations insurance. We have seen damage like this to vehicles in the past caused by car washes and their insurance company usually pays for the damage. You shouldn't have to involve your own insurance due to the negligence or faulty machinery of the car wash. Feel free to bring it by to us for a free estimate and any help you may need dealing with the situation.

^yes, your insurance shouldn't even have to know about it.

If they're being dicks, hire a lawyer and... wait for it... take them to the cleaners.

Petro has damaged the wife's car before, it happens more than you'd think. They have incident forms and everything already prepared.

They looked at the cameras to make sure you didn't do anything out-of-parameters and asked her to get quotes. That's it.

I had a touchless Petro car wash hit my car. There was no visible damage. She told me to come back and get the car washed the next day for free. I enforced the fact that that It's 20 minutes out of my way to go there, and she printed off a few free ones. They never offered any forms for me to fill out. I kept the dashcam video on my computer in case anything came of it (the incident was at the back of the car, but you could hear the foam wrapped pipe sliding on the hatch, and then everything shut down).

Yeah, everything shut down for mine too. I had to drive out because the roller thing stopped pushing me about after the thing hit me. What's stupid is that there were two cars behind me and it kept on pushing them through. If I didn't drive out they would have hit me.

Anyways, looks like they approved the repair, which includes a rental car for 3 days. So I take it in next week and hopefully they fix it properly.

Use the Gas Station's insurance. Not your own. Your policy would cover this, should be a comprehensive claim, but too many comp claims can prevent you from getting comp coverage in the future

Yikes!!

Was gonna run the MS3 though the touch free tomorrow...maybe I'll rethink that one...

The good and the roof, right above the windshield, are both dented quite sharply.

Can they pull out the pointy dents or do you guys think it'll be bondo'd over?

m_bisson It's best to take it to a shop that does Paintless Dent Repair, as well as Auto Body. This way they can work most of the metal out before using any bondo. This is always the procedure at our shop as we like to use the smallest amount of bondo possible in our customers' vehicles. I realize that being from Kitchener we may be a little too far for you, however there should be shops in your area that specialize in both fields. On the other hand if you do chose us we can also set you up with a rental vehicle and take care of the work for you using very minimal amounts of bondo.

Thanks for the offer, but apparently Petro Canada uses a shop in Cambridge for all of their area repairs. Not sure if I had a choice or not, but I'm booked in for there. I know others who have gone there for accident related work and they seem to do a decent job.

I do agree with you, though... Less bondo is better. Here's hoping they fix it right.

Pics would do, curious what damage those things can do.

I wouldn't settle for anything less then an oem fix at dealership.

This is the hood. There is another one right above the windshield, which is actually worse. The damage to the paint doesn't look too bad, but the dent is surprising.
