Unless I'm missing some minute detail here, seems to me that the product you're searching for is Plastidip or paint lol. Cover up the surrounding areas, and spray away to blackout whatever you like. Not that hard :)

+1 this. Plasti dip is extremely easy to work with, if it ends up looking terrible you can peel it off. There are many instructional videos on youtube on how to use it.
On a side note, I love the way that gen3 looks :hawt

Lol guess I should have gone into more detail with my question before sounding like a super noob! I'm debating whether to plasti dip it or get it professionally painted. I mean I don't mind spending the money but how durable do you think the paint job would be vs. the plasti dip?

People plasti dip there whole cars let alone a small front end mod. Just plastidip it, it will turn out great

When applied properly, Plastidip can be very durable. For what you're looking to do, I'd say that's your cheapest/easiest method.

I would plastidip it in this case because it is reversible and cheap. You can always change your mind if you dont like it after a while.
Another question; do you drive up north/ in rural places at all in the spring? Last year I had a plasti-dipped grille and all of the dead bugs started to show on the dip. They would leave behind little spots of dark discoloration. Only noticeable if you were up close.

How does plastidip hold up against stonechips? Being the front of the car, I'm really afraid the plastidip chipping off. Anyone have good experience with it on the grill?

Ever seen rubber chip?
If anything, just apply another layer or take off any reapply

Its not too bad. Like I said before, if applied correctly, it will hold up fine. I've had my whole car dipped for almost a year now, and for the most part, in terms of chips and stuff like that, its held up just fine. Even through winter. And being outside 24/7, 365

i have friends that spray their front with dip to protect from chips, it holds up pretty nice and was cheaper than the clear 3m wrap

Really?? They didn't wash the front of the car first?? That's terrible!!

I'm sure they cleaned the part that the vinyl was being applied to. That's all you really need to do anyway. And if you look closely at the pictures, you can see the areas of the grille were cleaned off.

Yeah I would tend to agree. Like at least rinse off the whole front so you don't accidentally scratch the paint when applying the vinyl...

If you have done the mod already I wouldn't mind seeing the outcome with plastic dip, got a can to do the rear trunk lip of my 2015 3 GS and might go ahead and use the rest for this.

More like, why didn't he take in a clean car
When I bought my car it was winter and I wanted clear bra installed on the front. There had been no snow for a couple of days so the day before I brought it in I had it washed, on the morning I took it over it snowed so the car was a mess. My installer washed and dried the entire car before he even started on the bra. To me this is a sign of a quality shop that cares about their work.

The prep time to cover this area is a pain in the ass. I used the dip last summer and it held out fairly well. Opted to remove it though this summer and go with the wrap. Both look good!
Pics of the plasti dip are in my ride thread in signature.

Id say just dip it. If its peeling cause of stone chips just reapply it. :)

This looks really good if I had a third gen this and the window strip chrome would be the first mod I would do.
