hello i am new to tm3.
I live in the Kitchener waterloo area,
just bought my mazda 3 2 months ago.
I have lots of plans for this car including a mazdaspeed 3 motor swap...
looking to meet with new people in the kw area.

2.3turbo swap sounds interesting but expensive? Doing labor yourself? Should of got a speed3 if dropping that coin.

couldn't find one that was in decent shape and in my price range. doing the motor swap is still cheaper then spend between $5g to $10g's on doing a turbo setup on my existing engine. plus being without my car for 4-6 weeks as well. doing the swap is cheaper and makes it so that unless I open throttle no one will know it is turboed

I'm sure you'll be doing your research (if you haven't already), but that Speed3 swap isn't as easy/straight-forward as most think. If you do intend to go ahead with it, good luck!

Welcome but uh...you'll quickly realize a motor swap to the 2.3T is out of the realm of possibility. Don't bother, it will NOT be less expensive than buying a MS3.

KW here as well.

as SomeGuy said, the swap is essentially impossible.

You need to swap ECU's...which is tied to your gauge cluster amongst other things that's the trickiest part. Plus it's more than just an engine that you need...it's drive shafts, transmission, intercooler, downpipe/exhaust, fueling, and that's not even getting into the fact that the cars structure and suspension is all different too. It will cost you more to do a MS3 engine swap than it would cost to just buy an MS3.

It has been before though..yarnbah did it before he moved west. Even brought it to a meet.

Welcome. As stated, this isn't as easy as swapping a k20... best of luck; keep us posted!

Sure it's possible, but so not worth it.
