CORKSPORT exhaust system, do I need to buy the High Flow Catalyst to be street legal?

Hello,

I have been exploring the many different exhaust options for my Mazda 3, I am set on the CORKSPORT 'Power Series' Mazda 3 Exhaust System so there's no changing my mind, it works with my budget, I like the sound, and reviews that I have read have been mostly positive.

However,

It says on the product page that "installation of the exhaust requires the removal of the stock second un-monitored catalyst. Removal of a catalyst on a street vehicle is illegal thus this system is not sold for street use. If you select the catalyst option the exhaust will come with a high flow metallic substrate catalyst (for an extra $200, which I'm sure I don't have to buy from them, if anyone can confim) which will be compliant with most states emissions."

Does this apply to Ontario? Do I need to buy a high flow catalyst to apply this exhaust to my '08 2.0L engine Mazda 3 Hatchback because of the removal of the stock second un-monitored catalyst? And do I have to buy theirs or can I find a cheaper one elsewhere to apply to this exhaust if it is absolutely needed?

I had the same exhaust on my Mz3 2.0L. Had it without the second cat for a few months then had my stock cat clamped onto the exhaust. This could be an easier alternative for you as I only paid $60.00 at my local exhaust shop to do this

It's going to be cheaper in the long run to have them provide the system with the cat, because without it you're going to have to source a high flow cat, then pay for install and it won't look as good as if Corksport did it in their shop.

If you've listened to un-catted exhausts, a catted exhaust will soundndifferent.

Thanks for the responses, but I'm more worried about the legality of it in Ontario. Will it be too loud without the 2nd catalyst that I will get sh*t from cops? and is it necessary to have the high flow cat to pass emissions? Sorry if I wasn't too clear on that; this was my first real post to TM3! ;)

Nahhhhhh bro your fine, i have catless Headers Full corksport CBE and only 1 highflow cat. You still have stock cat near stock headers..... Wont be loud much

And you can buy a highflow cat off amazon for $100 and install for another 50-100 if you need link send me a PM.

Nahhhhhh bro your fine, i have catless Headers Full corksport CBE and only 1 highflow cat. You still have stock cat near stock headers..... Wont be loud much
