In light of my original thread of things that suck I think it's time for a 'Things that don't Suck' tread. This is THE place to post all the Awesome little things you come across.

I'll start off with one of my favourites:

Speeding a little...only a little...like 110 in an 80 (easy to do in the back country without cruise in a sweet car)
Then you see it. The flashing lights. But not in your rearview. Saved! By that Ford before you. Heheheh

Getting 12 cents off per litre at the pump every time I fill up. Helps offset the cost of running 94 octane all the time haha.

A. No. The answer is always no.

I thought I was just imagining it had been 3ppl/car before, but when you look closely at the signs you can see they plastered a "2" on top of the original 3.

HOV lanes like this make driving the kid around more fun now. "Hey kid, for once you're saving me time" lol.

Well technically in a few days I got FD22 to go from complete stock to full setup lol. Not crazy but then again compared to some I haven't gone full crazy. But it's still hitting exactly where I was hoping to get to. A bit more tuning and possibly another 1000/1 per voice coil and I might get to the 150s.

A little more education for you. For every doubling in power you gain 3db more output...this is assuming however that you aren't already at the limits of the equipment as you run into power compression the more power you feed into a subwoofer. Additionally, you need to be able to supply the amplifier itself with enough power and I highly doubt your cars electrical system has enough to do so (most don't). Practically, strapping another 1000/1 to your sub will probably gain only 1-2db and a smoky voice coil as the heat melts the glue off the windings and you end up with no output. You'll gain more output by putting in a second 13w7 on the same amp then you will putting in a second amp. If outright SPL is your goal, a better enclosure design can net you far more output but will turn your car into a one note wonder.

Also, anything over 120db is instant permanent damage to your ears...if you spend day in day out driving around cranking your tunes and setting off alarms (real cool :rolleyes ), I hope you enjoy going deaf too.

I appreciate your input on this. I'm just at this point looking at my options on what my next step on the stereo is. Realistically I'm not sure whether or not to go for a second 13 mainly because if I build a box for two I really won't have the trunk space. I've considered the two 1000/1s on each voice coil for space and to get the maximum power from the 13. But it is a risky idea and both amps need to be setup exactly the same or as you said risking blowing the sub up. I do want SPL but I'm on the fence because the SQ I have now is fantastic. Maybe once I figure out my door speaker setup a bit further then I can go from there. It's times like this I wish I had a hatch. And hey I drove down the road and it set them off. I thought it was absolutely hilarious haha. As for losing my hearing I've had many different setups and am now almost 5 years in my job in the loudest part of my work and my hearing is still well above average. It might happen one day. But I'm not gonna stop enjoying it.

That's very short sighted...5 years is nothing. Talk to me in 30...oh wait, you won't be able to, because you'll be deaf lol it's not like you go deaf instantly, you'll lose your higher frequency hearing first and get tinnitus. It's nothing to mess around with.

Having the cop behind you at a red light turn his lights on......and then pull around you to the next lane and pull over the guy that was beside you.

Also, getting to a store one minute before they close and having the guy locking the door let you in to grab something real quick.

And finally, going on a 30-minute drive and being able to count the amount of times you rub on one hand.

Leaving your sunroof tilted open during a huge downpour earlier this week. Getting back to the car, the only thing that got wet was the passenger seat, and only barely.

Unfortunately my amp is under that seat. Somehow those few drops of water shorted it out. Literally the only thing to get wet in my entire car was the I've sensitive electronic thing.

Hang on, getting to the good part.

Today I swapped my wiring back to the stock speaker wire so I have tunes again (still using an aftermarket deck). Suddenly the cheap woofers I have in my rear door sounds fine - when I first installed them they immediately sounded blown. But they were $15 and I just said to hell with rear speakers. Now they're back there pumping out mid bass nicely. I set the head unit high pass filter at 50hz and everything sounds great.

So thank you rain for shorting out my crap 4 channel amp that apparently only had 2 good channels.

Lmao that's one way to do it. Have the rain fix your amp for you. Are you running an aftermarket amp or is it the Bose one?

We're in no rush...our new house won't be finished getting built until December this year, so we're not intending on doing any wedding planning until then.

That said, very small wedding, immediate family only and no big reception; just a dinner, probably local. So the stress (and cost) won't be a huge issue (hopefully).

And thanks everyone for the best wishes :)

Your school building a massive "Learning Center" aka 8 floors of seating and desks and rooms for students to be able to go to get work done, or just hang out at. Its cool and rare to get a brand new space like this to use, and see a bit of my tuition money go to something cool like this (as opposed to painting our streets blue and yellow like they attempted and failed at doing a couple years ago). But it really is a cool space to utilize, especially during breaks.

Had my final Fishing day on Sunday, for our (buddies) little fishing tournament series, which ran from Bass Season opener and ended this past Sunday.

I was trailing in total Weight all summer - but came in clutch in the dying minutes of the final day. Literally 5 minutes before the cutoff time - I pulled in a 3lb beast that edged me into the lead - and then quickly after, another 2.5 pounder that sealed the deal

Of the 6 outings - I won;
- Heaviest catch for the Day 4 Times
- Heaviest catch for the series
- Total catch weight for the series

I won a total of $350 in Prize money, and theres gonna be a trophy for bragging rights (which gets handed down to next season's winner.) But best of all - the time spent laughing and relaxing with your closest buddies is the ultimate prize....

... Next to the heavy bragging and trash talking that's sure to follow for the next year :)

oh yea, for just our car insurance in Brampton, we can get our cars, house, and bike insurance. the bikes and cars about cut in half the cost. so where as my car now is about 200 and 350 with car and bike, my new cost with my bike will be about 180. very much looking forward to it. and state farm came in about I think it was somewhere between $1000 -1500 less then intact for the same. couldn't believe it.

Closer to Toronto you get the worse insurance is. Hell in Guelph my insurance is 158. But if I lived in Mississauga it would be around 215. Orangeville Is a nice little city and to go up north is a nice jaunt up 9.

Correction...the closer you get to Hamilton, the worse it is. I live in Burlington now and I went from $172/month to $134. Just by moving closer to the city.

Brampton is the insurance mecca! Highest rates in the country I believe.

Edit: Yup I was right.

Those Top 10 cities, their premiums and the difference with the provincial average are as follows:

• Brampton – $2,393, +44%;

• Woodbridge – $2,342, +41%

• Vaughan – $2,342, + 41%

• Toronto – $2,017, +27%

• Mississauga – $1,998, +26%

• Hamilton – $1,987, +26%

• Thornhill – $1,884, +20%

• Markham – $1,829, +17%

• Richmond Hill – $1,755, +13%

• Ajax – $1,718, +11%

Bacon in your grilled cheese. I gained weight in UNI because of this.
Also using sliced marble cheddar is my favourite. The cheese pulls apart so well.

I had my company Christmas party tonight. I wasn't going to go again but my co-worker voluntold me to go. We were given tickets and could buy more for some raffles. I won two things.

1 Day off with pay
$250 Mirvish coupon for their plays.

My GF just booked 2 $130 seats (her dream seats) for phantom of the opera in Jan. which after tax and coupon cost her $29.50.

Glad I went. Christmas shopping done :P very happy GF

I usually don't watch the news but city news just had a nice piece on a family welcoming Syrian refugees tonight.

A Syrian lady who came over 20 years ago as a refugee with her daughters moved to Peterborough. She is now welcoming another family tonight and sponsoring them. She is using her daughter as an example of what is possible in Canada. Her daughter is now an MP and apart of Trudeau's new cabinet. Pretty cool.

When you're driving home on a 2 lane highway and you find another driver who sticks with you and drives just as you do.

HWY 11 south from Huntsville to Washago. A dodge ram was keeping up, making all the same lane changes I was. I would let him pass and vice versa. When I pulled off at Rama/ Washago I flicked my lights, he waved. Really cool driving.

#DrivingBuddies are the best. I get one or two from time to time on my long drives between Toronto and Michigan. The longer the distance traveled together, the closer the bond grows. And then....well, it actually makes you a little sad when you have to leave them, or they leave you lol

I think part of it too is finding someone else that's sensible and knows how to drive and has similar habits to you. These days, after all the idiots you deal with in the street, having that first hand experience to witness a sane driver is always refreshing.

those are the best. did that once in a trip to Philadelphia. for about 2 and a hours on 6 hour drive we were going back and forth matching maneuvers. It was so late at night the highway was pretty empty. when it came time for his exit we flashed lights then rode off into the night. Sad it doesn't happen as much these days. Makes a monotonous drive easier and keeps you alert

I found a nice 2 bedroom apartment.
3 story low rise @ Wilson & Avenue. Nice area, close to subway, close to 401. I can walk to work, cutting out most of my car expenses. :D
less use - less gas, less maintenance, car should last longer.
Newly renovated 10 days ago!
All new kitchen - ALL NEW APPLIANCES. Never been used.
Aprox. 950 sq. feet
East facing view, lots of light.
CLEAN. NO BUGS!!! (No garbage chute, trash kept outside away from building)
Nice clean renovated bathroom.
$1580/mo split between 3 people.
Heat, water incl. Hydro extra. ($40-50/mo)
Parking $50
$1630 +hydro.
Promotion: 1 month free rent
Move on mid FEB.
Very nice management. The Super was very nice and helpful. A lot of residents we passed seem to love him.
Viewed it today, filled out the application earlier tonight, will go in to sign the lease this Monday as its being held for me.

work 'mandated' performance driving training. My role will be shifting some focus to the more powerful vehicles and i needed to take the advanced driving training. Yesterday I got to spend the morning on the "black lake" (a very large skid pad) where we did a bunch of activities that seemed right out of Canada's worst driver. Lots of fun sliding around and doing their little "courses". This was only level 2, so i'm limited to 100mph on the test tracks. just need to make the business case to get me to level 3 then 4.
