Yeah, a n00b thread if there ever was one.
I'm looking at replacing my 3. I can think of a number of cars I'd rather buy, but my mazda has treated my so well and financially, it makes sense to buy another econobox, and this one is particularly compelling because I work at a used car lot and can get it at our cost.
The car is a 2011 Mazda3 GT with leather and a moonroof. It's got 90k on the odometer. Selling price is $12,750 but my price would be significantly less.
At $12,750, is this a decent deal?

My friend bought a 2012 GT sedan 6 speed that was fully loaded for 14,000 about a year ago now.. Had about 60k on it IIRC.
12750 doesn't sound unreasonable... But if you are getting it lower then yeah I'd say go for it.

So it's everything but the GTE package? Although, the mileage is good. I would say 1-2 grand cheaper unless the condition is very good.

Keep in mind the market is a little different out here in the boonies compared to Toronto, but I thought the same thing. I thought 11,999 would be fair, but my price would likely be close to 10k flat or less.

Bonus is suspension and wheels can be transferred over. DO IT.

Sounds like a decent deal for sure! Like the Dr. said, everything can be switched over. Do it.

Update:
My price is $11k even plus tax and licensing.
Also, I ran the VIN and it's a GS, not a GT. Which is unsettling.
Not too sure anymore.

No deal!
Mostly cause I don't wanna see your Gen1 die. But also cause it doesn't seem like thaaaaaat great of a deal with this recent update. But that's just my humble and likely inaccurate opinion.

So it's a loaded GS (leather and convenience package I think). Standard trans? Hatchback?
Seems like an ok deal, perhaps what you could get for something similar with haggling. Have to check the specifics though.

11k for a loaded GS is still a pretty decent deal IMO. Loaded GS at the dealer near me usually goes for 11-13k depending on condition.

Standard trans and hatchback, yes. I'm not sure what convenience pkg includes but it has leather, bluetooth, and a sunroof. No LED tails, no HID's, no colour display, no fuel consumption metrics display.
I looked at low-market Civic coupes and sedans as well but the interiors were really crap. Also considered a CR-Z but with the auto trans it was too boring to drive.
I've come to the conclusion that if I can't find a later model RWD coupe (Gen, FRS etc), I will absolutely need a hatchback.

It's an okay deal. Was hoping for better, especially at 97k. I'm just gun shy.
