I need help with identifying some weird noises coming from my 2006 mazda 3. The first noise sounds like a deep howl as I am driving and increases as the speed increases. It sounds like I have monster tires on my car when I do not. Plus the tires were new this year. The second noise sounds like a combination of a vacuum sucking up water with a gurgling sound. I don't understand the second noise since 2000 kilometers ago I had an oil change. Would anyone know what this could be?. I also noticed a burning like clutch smell when I parked the car. I hope this is an easy fix.

First noise, deep howling, sounds like possibly a wheel bearing. Can't even guess at the second one.

First noise is likely a wheel bearing. You can jack the car up and shake the wheel at 9 and 3... If you feel play the bearing is shot. If its just one side of the car I recommend replacing the other side too. Why? Because if one side Is bad, the other likely will be soon too.

As for the gurgling noise, I assumed you've checked your oil and verified its at the correct level... Right?

It may also be a pulley that's binding up, and that burning smell could be the drive or AC belt wearing away due to the binding pulley.

Vacuum gurgling could be an intake manifold leak

Now that I think of it, a vacuum/ gurgling sound could also be due to air in the cooling system. The gurgling would come from the heater core. After checking for vacuum line leaks, I'd check the coolant level and for air pockets in the coolant.

Bearings for the wheel noise as my father's civic had the same issue. As for the other one I've never heard of that before..
