In the supermarket parking lot, I didn't see the curb and drove over it around 10K +. There was a lot of loud swearing immediately.:bang

I checked for damage underneath (not on a hoist) and test drove the car for any unusual pulls or sounds. There wasn't anything.

Over the last few weeks though, there have been intermittent light to moderate sounding thumps coming from the right side. The noise is very difficult to recreate. Initially, it seems like it was coming from the back.

When trying to recreate the issue, I tried braking hard, I drove over speed bumps, I drove the car turning moderately hard left and right, but I couldn't replicate the problem. However, just today, I drove over a slight grade at very low speed while exiting the underground parkade, I heard it. Except the weird thing is it seemed like it came from the front right. I did this once more and I thought I heard it again, but I am not sure. I tried several more times.

I am going to the dealer next month, maybe sooner. I never had any clunking noises before so this would be a first. I am just wondering what the likely culprit might be? I guess whatever damage is there, assuming they find it won't be under warranty.:facepalm

Im sure its under warranty if its suspension, just tell them you have a clunking noise you want checked out easy....unless you tell them you drove over a curb and the damage is my fault, do what you want [emoji4]

Next month?
If it concerns you bring it in sooner than later... Up to you but if I was worried of a clunk coming from anywhere; I really wouldn't be at ease enjoying my car.

You most likely destroyed your lower control arm upon the hit. Not familiar with pricing for the new mazdas but should a 300 dollar or so job . It also can be your cv joint best bet is to take it into a mechanic (dealership since car is newer) and ask them to take a look. Who knows might just be a blown strut.

Thanks guys. One more question. How likely is it for there to be any frame damage?
It seems to occur now when accelerating and turning the wheel left, but not always.

Very little chance of frame damage it could just be the control arm getting worse . my advice take it in .

Finally took the car recently in. The tech said everything is fine with the suspension. If true, OMFG is the suspension tough as a tank. He says there is a bulletin on the clunking and he will try that first (as he has to). If that doesnt work, he will replace the shock. They have to order the parts and will let me know when it's in.

The clunking is fixed after the TSB. :)
