Hi, I've got a '12 Mz3 with a 6 speed manual transmission. Since the day I got it, I've noticed a few things and I'm not sure what they mean.

-changing from 1-2, 2-3 is really loud. It'd hard to explain but I can hear the physical gears changing quite well when I'm driving. There's no grinding at all, it's just quite a loud click, and sometimes it doesn't make any noise. I don't know much about transmissions. Is this normal? I took it into my auto class (highschool) and the teacher didn't make anything of it.

-Sometimes it doesn't want to go into second. Clutch is fully pressed down, but it's quite stubborn and won't go in all the way. Someone said my clutch is iffy. Not too sure what it is.

If anyone could clarify what's going on, that'd be fantastic. Thanks 😊

the synchros are known to be crap for the mz 6 speeds.
just be happy the gear goes in.

There is a TSB on this problem from Mazda. If you are still under warranty take it to the dealer. IIRC there is an updated syncro and gear.

tybullen Also a good opportunity to change your gear oil to fully synthetic.

The Skyactiv trans already has full synthetic 75W80 from the factory.

The OP did not state he has Sky. The 12's still commonly available had 2.0L/2.5L MZR engines with the 5/6MT non-SKY trans.

Is there really a TSB for this? I have a 2010, with 170 000k and since maybe the 100k mark, I've had grinding issues with 2nd gear and sometimes hard to shift also.
Dealer always said this was normal and the transmission is more ''nervous'' than other cars.

Like I don't get this, if theres really a TSB, why the F would dealers lie to me instead of telling me ''Oh Good sir, we have a TSB for this issue, bring your car in and we will change this at no price''

No instead they don't tell you shit?!
