It's election time! Don't forget to vote.

If you're like the majority of Canadians and are fed up with Harper, check out votetogether.ca to see who to vote for in your riding. They'll basically tell you who has the best chance of defeating the conservatives.

Don't go there and just spoil your ballot!! If you really don't want to vote, speak to the people running it. When they hand you your ballot to vote, just hand it back and say, "I decline my vote." This way, your vote will still be counted, whereas spoiling you ballot is the same as not voting at all. The effectiveness of this, however, is limited since most political parties only care about the people who ARE voting for a party. During the last election only about 30000 people declined their ballots, which is a ridiculously small number.
If you are thinking about just declining your ballot, I'd urge you to reconsider and vote for the party that you find most tolerable.

I read that the conservatives changed the policy and you can no longer "decline" your vote.

Either way spoiled ballots and declined ballots are both counted in the same group.

Well that doesn't surprise me at all. Another reason to not vote for them ;)

We really need to break this cycle of voting the liberals in, when we are mad at the tories and vica versa.

I voted yesterday at advanced polls as well. I do not recall seeing a circle for decline to vote. Maybe you decline with the people who take your name off the list.

agreed but sadly no one is going to vote for NDP since the chances of them winning is very slim. Anything but harper though....

I dont want to vote liberal either because it could give kathlyene wynne more power. Probably not a good thing but its better than harper being relected.

Strategicvoting.ca is another great site that shows you up to date polls on which ridings are going to be close.

Figured its about time I finally vote :P. Dont want Conservatives, or Liberals either really. I was hoping NDP would pull through but the polls are looking pretty rough the past week. There are things I don't like about them all, but I agree Harper needs to be out. My riding will probably stick conservative though.

Go do your civic duty...I don't care who you vote for, to each their own, so let's not turn this thread political...just vote!

Elections Canada should be fired. They are fncking retarded and totally useless. Their website is garbage, their online "registration" is a steaming pile of shit.
I've lived in Canada my whole life, voted every year I could, CRA has always known where I lived, Elections Canada doesn't have any idea who I am and I'm never on the registered list. Calling their phone number doesn't work, line always goes busy / dead whenever I've tried.
I emailed them, they sent me an automated response after 3 DAYS that was addressed to some lady in Sask. who, according to the copy of their original message, was having issues with their phone system. The automated system recommended calling the same number that wasn't working.
I never got a response to my email. This means that they probably sent their useless automated responses to all the wrong people.... which is a huge breach of privacy. I submitted the story to CBC GoPublic... we'll see if anything happens with that -_-
We should be voting electronically. CRA managed to make all their stuff electronic. Why can't Elections Canada? Oh right, because they're staffed by useless people who don't know what a computer is.
I voted anyway.
Our country is so behind the times. If they actually cared about voter turnout, maybe they should fix their fncking useless voting system.

Interesting result. Reactionary to Harper? Probably. I expected a Lib minority resulting with lots of nothing getting done.

I ended up voting "strategically". I guess it worked: Harper's gone.

The conservatives have stopped elections Canada from going electronic/online with voting. They made it a law that before EC could start doing any online voting tests, it had to be voted on in parliament. That said, the liberals would like to change that by the next election.

yes please to online voting... I know i might look lazy for doing this but I had to set aside a good 15 min yesterday out of my busy schedule ( lots and lots of assignments) to go and vote.

also wouldnt it be easier to count votes this way too?

I don't think 15 minutes is to much to ask when the polls are open for 12 hours for you to do your civic duty and vote, wait until you have work then a family on top also I can see why they don't want to go online with voting i'm sure it would make it much easier to forge votes

I don't see how it could possibly be easy to forge votes with a proper process in place. They're just too retarded to come up with one. They probably think online voting means having a doodle.com survey

Having a bad experience doesn't make everyone retarded.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time

Yep or a hacker would screw with it somehow...remember when they had to extend the tax submission date because of a virus on the gov.ca site?

Plus you just know they'd create/raise a tax to funding the whole electronic voting system so lets actually be thankful that got kiboshed

Having a bad experience doesn't make everyone retarded.

Obviously I'm generalizing, I'm sure they've got some useful employees stashed somewhere. But whoever made the decisions/was in charge of their website, automated email reply system and useless phone number are indeed retarded because none of them worked when required.
