I would like to know as well. I\'m going for mine in a few days I really need to know because i don\'t want to be scammed for anything.

What? Mazda will let you bring your own oil? Do they deduct what they normally charge for the oil? Which Mazda do you go to?

yes and yes :)

they will let you bring your own oil as long as you let the Service Advisor know where the bottles are in the car....they will deduct what they normally charge you for the oil (you\'ll see a \"customer supply own oil\" and $0.00)

i go to Avante Toronto.

CanTire carries Mobil1 0W20 ... i think it\'s $7-8 a bottle .. i don\'t know how much litre per bottle ... you\'ll need 4.3L for your engine (see manual p.10-5)

yeah .. thos ebottles at can-tire (same price as walmart) are 1L bottles..

i thought that we needed 4L.. hmm.. well the big jug is 4.4L actually so that should be ok..

what difference does it make by using different oil?
is it cheaper?

well 0w20 mobil 1 is the synthetic oil that is most recommended for our engines. using your own regular oil is probably more expensive as the dealership gets all the oil in bulk.. BUT it may not be the oil you would like. but if you don\'t knwo the difference, then i would suggest sticking with the regular stuff u get from the dealer.. but if you go synthetic.. i\'m almost sure that you have to bring your own.

Will using 0w20 Mobil1 piss off Mazda and their warranty on the car? A few of my friends have mentioned that they use synthetic oil in their cars and say it offers better protection for the winter. What are the advantages of using 0w20 Mobil1? I\'m going in for my first oil change in about a month so I want to \"educate\" myself.

I won\'t rehash this since MajesticBlueN seems to know a little bit more about it so take a look here (http://torontomazda3.com/forum/read.php?TID=745)

i think we should make the class \"search 101\" mandatory for all new members :p

I am all for full synthetic, just concerned about a few things, not with the oil, but the guys at the shop. I would like to go to Morningside Mazda for my first oil change (close to my work), but I haven’t heard too many people say anything good about their service. I can just see myself having a long discussion with these guys, if I bring my own oil. Also, the odd amount of oil too add, doesn’t match the oil sizes sold at Canadian Tire (I need 3.7L), so they have be careful not to overfill, and they really should return the leftover oil to the customer. They must have pre-measured oil amounts so they needn’t to waste time measuring the last few drops of oil. And going back to Morningside Mazda, who’s to say they will even use your oil; keep it to be sold on ebay later.

Bah, I hate how Mazda rapes people for unecessary services. 16K Km and it needs 80 dollars worth of work? WTF.:sarc

I just get the oil changed.
