- turn the radio off
- hold down the tuning knob and the audio control knob for a couple of seconds
- wait until the display reads \"Contrast\" and then turn the audio control dial to change the contrast

[trying to do his best mad scientist impersonation]

A-ha!!! I you all laughed at me...

THIS ISN\'T IN THE MANUAL

I should know, I downloaded it off of the Mazda.ca site and wiped off the dust off the the one in my glove box. As an aside, has anyone notice how huge that glove box is? I mean you can smuggle a small illegal alien in there and not have to resort o sealing them in a Powerpuff Girl pinata!!! But I digress.

I also found this same discussion (http://www.mazda3forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12004&postdays=0&postorder=asc&sta rt=30) over at MZ3F.com!!!

They use the same LCD all around the world. What you see are the readouts for cars equipped with automatic climate control.

Alright, thats something else I want-- the L/100km readout! Dang it, they probably use the same ECU globally, why the heck is that not enabled?

$$$ :D

in europe, fully loaded, the 3 is equivalent to a ~$40,000CAN vehicle (HID, Navi, Auto Climate Control, trip computer, etc).

i\'m starting to think we got jipped :( ;)

also.. if you compare our 3 to US\'s you\'ll see that our market is 30mil strong.. theirs.. 10x that.. so they get more options.. yellow, TPMS, navi, HIDs.. etc.. and prices are more comparable to the CAD ones..

Its crazy to think of how many combinations they must make at the plants (I think there are 2 in Japan now) for the global market-- in all there are probably about 20-30 models I think (just a guess)!

Its too bad they don\'t make options from foreign models easily available in other markets though (like purchasing the ambient temp sensor for eg).

Wouldn\'t it be more cost effective to just make everything universal?

majic
11-28-2004, 08:34 PM
exactly it _IS_ universal.. same display so manufacturing costs is down b/c they need one template and adding extra sensors (ie. temp) will add to the cost of the vehicle..

Xenon

I\'d pay the extra cash if it means getting a ambiant temperature sensor and fuel consumption computer.... on a large (worldwide) scale... should add about a cost of $50/vehicle? even if it was a $500 option, I\'d probably fall for it.

I went and took out the LCD from the HU and on the back there is a place that I think if it was there it would display the info we want...

Just go HERE (http://calin.cjb.net//tm3/hu/) and see the pictures... It\'s the second picture that you should look at...

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead... but has anyone tried this on an 06 or later? I can't get it to work and was wondering if there was a different sequence of commands in order to adjust the contrast.

I tried it on an 07 last week and it didn't work. The signal strength worked (power & #2 button). I guess no contrast adjustment for newer models!

(The car I tested was an 07 Mazda 3 sedan GT/GFX)

I got a 06 and can't get it to work. What's signal strenght? Is that suppose to adjust the audio output?

3GFX
05-22-2007, 11:09 AM
It just shows how strong a radio signal is. It doesn't do anything to audio output. Its like a bar meter on a cell phone, but displayed in numbers instead of bars.

Okay... so how do you get the audio strength to come up?? anyone try this on an '05??
