LMFAO...Well the first couple of comments debunk the myth that only women are afraid of spiders!
daddy_phatstax they look like they are soft to the touch because they are furry/hairy...are they?

LOL well yes there are furry or fluffy if u want to call it that. These are still animals I make sure to get tarantulas that I know wont kill me or try to rip my hand off when I try to feed them. They do come equipped with 2 big fangs. And the fluffy furriness well some tarantulas use there back legs to kick hairs off the buts as a sign of not being to happy.

I actually think that it's only the fact that they are silent that makes me uneasy...I'd want to know when it was on the move so I could distance myself but I curiously would like to touch one so my brain could register what it feels like. Pretty sure that is the first step to overcoming being uneasy about them.

daddy_phatstax you make a great point in saying they are animals and funny enough when I first read your post the first thing I thought was "I bet this guy really likes animals altogether because it takes a special person to own tarantulas" Did you own other exotic pets prior to these ones?

Well there completely quiet, although mine are all juvenile, my black one should grow to a good solid 9 inches from leg to leg. there are breed out there that get bigger then a bigger then a dinner plate and are very easily attainable.

This is a goliath bird eater which is probably next on my list lol They get so big u can here them walk around in there enclosure. they grow some bigger then 12 inches

I used to have garder snakes and a red eared slider but never got into spiders. What type of cleanup is involved in the aquarium/enclosure?

I think all of these people have seen the movies arachnophobia or home alone one too many times where Buzz's spider gets loose.

Not a fan myself but my cousin's wide has a tarantula and a small ball python. The spider is cool looking as long as it is on the other side of the glass. :)

Always wanted one but decided to stick with snakes. Maybe one of these days.

Nice pets though.

I used to keep tarantulas. I had a Chilean Rose, Mexican Red Knee, and a Greenbottle Blue. I've also kept scorpions as pets (Emperor and Giant Desert Hairy). Pretty interesting and fairly low maintenance.

awesome pets with barley any upkeep lol. What made you get rid of them?

daddy_phatstax
03-22-2016, 10:45 AM
Barley any clean up maybe once a month. when you feed them you gotta make sure u remove all dead bugs cuz mold is an issue and also lots of vents on the enclosures so mold doesn't build. other then that fairly easy. They can go for weeks without food. I have a feeding day of once a week for all 5 of my beasts

To each their own. I prefer fluffy puppies myself, but if you find an unholy agent of beelzebub to be cute/entertaining, good on ya :)
