so i recently got my car checked out at a local shop i go to every once in a while because of a rattling noise ive been hearing from the back end.

its been happening for about 2 weeks now and seems to have gotten a tad worse/louder. we got the car up on the hoist and both looked around the back end of the car and the guy says he cant find anything. hes looked at pretty much every moving part, the only thing he can think of is it being the end links, also tells me its a little hard to diagnose them if they need replacing. i personally dont know what sound end links make when they should be replaced. all i can say is that it sounds quite like the heat shield is making the noise but that was checked from to end aswell. 203,000kms on my 2010 3. checked out moog end links because i see thats what most people are buying for a good quality replacement. so my question is to everyone, what else should i look at before the deciding to change the links?

I had a rattling noise that was coming from the back end when i had my 09 sedan. Happens only when the car is going over rough road and when i am turning with a landscape change.

Turns out it was the trunk shock links are loose and dry. They were lubricated and noise is gone.

A rattle in the rear is probably 60% endlinks. I mean you can get the moogs pretty cheap from rock auto. You can go with something cheaper as you probably only want another 100k out of the car. Its funny comparing the quality level of the moogs to factory as the moogs are so much thicker and higher quality. Other things could be sway bar bushings or a loose bolt somewhere.
