Just sold my 2010 GS hatchback 5 speed auto and got a 2012 Skyactiv hatchback with a 6 speed manual. Finally made the switch to a manual. Also excited for the Skyactiv power train and not having my car drink gasoline like its nothing. Skyactiv owners, how do you like your gen 2 skyactivs? And downsides? Cannot explain how excited I am

I've had my 2013 GS Skyactiv hatch for 3 months now and I've had no major issues. Sadly, I have an auto, so I don't get to have too much fun… unless I'm in manual mode! I sit in a lot of traffic anyway. I can't imagine that there's a great difference between the 2012 and 2013 model years, aside from the USB iPod interface. ;)

I've only come across two minor issues so far. The first (probably due to age) is a small rattle coming from the passengers side. I can only hear it when I'm driving less than 10 km/hr with the radio off. My second issue is related to my headlights. During deceleration, the low beams tend to flicker ever so slightly. I've noticed it happens a lot in 3rd gear. There's a TSB for it but I just haven't had the time to have it taken care of.

Loved my 12 auto. Had it 65k, only problem is a faulty wheel bearing Mazda is replacing under the powertrain warranty.

Picking the car up on Friday. I feel like a little kid I'm so excited. Only drawback is no sunroof, but I plan on having one installed this summer.

Lmao as much as I think that's a good idea, I'll probably have it done professionally.

I did some research on this topic... Looks like Mazda found a way around it for the most part

Someone on here actually got a sunroof installed on their red Gen2 Speed3 if I recall correctly. Can't remember the username properly now though...think the name was Chris?

I did some reading on aftermarket sunroofs today and there are a lot of people saying to not do it because it will compromise the structural integrity of the vehicle... I call BS on that, but does anyone actually know for sure? I'll be scrapping my plans for one if that's the case
