Hey all, anyone recommend a good \"modern\" cell phone? My gf and I are both using a Nokia 8390 (http://www.nokia.ca/english/products/8390/8390.asp) but she needs to get a new phone since her\'s is pretty much going haywire (both had it for like 2.5 yrs).

We\'re presently interested in the SE T637 (http://www.sonyericsson.com/t637/). Thinking cheapest way to go is to get it thru Rogers under a two yr contract (http://www.shoprogers.com/store/wireless/products/phones/products_details.asp?shopperID=1S54DWAPWSGT9NAD9KM 99AKA5TMQ1FNA&PRODUCTID=T637&summary=1).

Any other suggestions? We only use the phone as it is main purpose; a phone to talk to other people. :)

Requirements; good battery life, good reception (inbound and outbound calling), good earpiece and mic, and the standards (colour screen, polyphonic ringtones) ... camera is optional... our budget is $300 tops (for one new cell phone).

TIA!

I use an LG 4600 and I love it. I have been using it since April and it\'s been a workhorse. I just looked for reviews of it and many people have had issues but mine\'s been rock solid. It even worked like a champ on my east coast travels this past summer. I\'ve even dropped it a couple of times with no issues. I like it because it\'s small and lightweight and folds to prevent accidental dialing when it\'s in my pocket.....

The T637 is great! I got mine about 2 months ago on Rogers...only $138 on a 2 year contract. I previously had a T630 and the reception was pretty bad but that\'s all solved with the T637 (the 850mhz band also helps a lot too).

if you don\'t need a contract, go buy \"pay as you go\" or fido prepaid, plans have good new phones. I currently consider to Moto V551 or SE Z600

I\'ve gotten fed up with the phone I have right now... Motorola V60... It\'s a very convinent phone, fits in the pocket and everything.. But the reception is killing me... Sometimes it\'ll conenct, other times it won\'t..

The phone is a bit old (I\'ve been getting beef from some of the people at work about it)... Thankfully the time has come to move up to a nicer phone..

The new Razor from Motorola is the one I\'m getting... I hate all the other phones out there... They\'re bulky, they look awful and some of them have awful reception..

I also prefer the flip phones.. I hate havnig a small peanut of a phone and then sticking it to your ear to talk looks retarded!

Thanks guys! I think my Pay As You Go will kill my wallet. I talk to the gf every night before sleeping, sometimes the call keeps going even tho we\'ve both fallen asleep. :p

Razor is crazy money! It\'s nice and all but what they\'re asking for it... ouch...

Nope, nothing wrong with old phones... I\'ve had mine for about 4 yrs as well (if not longer.. I can\'t remember...). I\'m just tired of the phone losing connection whenever I\'m talking to someone.. Yes, it still works, and I\'ll be using it for a bit longer (hopefully get the Razor for Xmas, but somehow I doubt it.. :( )

If I suspect I won\'t be getting the Razor for Xmas then I\'ll go about getting it for myself as soon as Xmas shopping is over... Which reminds me... I have to start shopping! :(
